.) Many writers pull ideas of what to write about from their daily life, no matter how mundane it may seem. There are many things a person does in a day that would make a good topic to write about. What you do everyday usually is where your experience is and you should write about things you know. From caring for kids, to cleaning, to gardening or indoor plants, to home businesses, this all is worthy to pull topics from.
.) Past Experience is another area not to over look such as a past job or hobby you use to do. There are typically many things that we use to do in our past we no longer do today yet added to our personal knowledge and skills. Thinking about past jobs or activities can bring up a surprisingly long list of topics!
.) The Internet is a wonderful place to get ideas when you are really stuck. The sky is the limit and surfing the net can bring up more topics than you may be prepared to write for. With a quick tap of the keyboard and Google search, you can bring up anything and find many interesting things to write about.
.) Your community is a great place to discover topics to write about. What is your town's history? If I was a visitor where would the hot spots be I would not want to miss seeing while there? What are the best and worst hotels and restaurants there? Do they have special events or does your community do something you consider special?
.) Here at Associated Content, they have an Assignment Desk that always has a list of ideas to write about. If all else fails and you are really stuck for an idea, take a look at Associated Contents assignment desk and pick a title for your topic to write about.
.) Ask friends and family, they may be a wonderful source for tossing ideas around when in search for fresh new topics. What kind of articles are they interested in reading? Do any of them have a fascinating career or hobby? Those close to you are often a great extension of yourself. When you do not write about topics within your daily life, you can easily look to those around you that you spend time with on what they do daily.
.) Movies and Video Games are another great source to find topics to write about. If nothing else there are reviews always waiting to be written. What movies or video games does your family watch and play? Which ones are good and which ones are bad and why?
These are just a few areas you can turn to for sources of inspiration when you run out of ideas to write about. Every one has days when they get stuck for an idea but if you know where to look, there are always topics waiting to be written.
