Writing Online Articles!

Theresa L.
Finding something to write about should be a simple process. Any writer could write about the news, what is going on in their day-to-day lives or even about their interest, but sitting down and putting the words together is a completely different story.

There are many people online that say writing is easy. I am here to say it is not easy but it can be fun. Writing is not just finding a topic to write about nor is it about putting your voice on a piece of paper.

Writing is about giving the people what they need and want. They come to us to read articles that are interesting to them. As a writer it is our responsibility to give them what they need, even if it is just one single person.

Yes, it can be discouraging at times. As a writer, we want our articles to be read. We want people to enjoy them. Yet, there are times when we feel we have failed.

Many people do not realize that writing is personal. As a writer we are taking a piece of ourselves and giving it to the world to read. It can be frightening and exciting at the same time, and at one time in our lives we have questioned ourselves about our work.

The comments that are left can do that to any writer. All writers love to have their work appreciated but sometimes those comments can do the opposite. They can be helpful or they can be abusive. It is at these times, as a writer, we sometimes, begin to question ourselves. Some writers will allow it to discourage them away from writing, while other writers will work harder to prove them wrong.

However, the truth comes down to one thing. If you are happy with your work, then that is all that matters. There will be many people down the road that will criticize your writing and sometimes it will be hard not to take it personal. The key thing to remember is with each person that does not like your article, there is another person that did enjoy.

I find a lot of joy in writing for a living, and actually much easier than a classic 9-5. But it does get frustrating sometimes

So true, write what you know is right and let the naysayers nay. who cares :) That is the spice of life. Not everyone will agree or like everything we write. Keep on writing.

Wonderful article! To me, there is a distinct difference between creative writing and reporting. I have a BFA in Graphic Design/Illustration. Art like writing is subjective and personal. I write and make art for my personal satisfaction and creative expression. If folks like what I do that's just extra icing on the cake. :)

I write because I love to write. Online or in print, a writer's prayer is that the words they weave will be worn and enjoyed by all who wrap themselves up in what the writer has written. We share our gifts with the world - oftentimes not receiving or wanting anything in return. Cheers :) Well done!
