Writing Your Own Ebook

It's Easier Than You Think!

If you are looking to make money online, there is no better way than to write your own information product. Many people seek to profit from affiliate marketing, Adsense sites or blogging, but the real money starts rolling in when you create and market a 100% original product on a hot niche topic.

Creating your own product means that you are providing something unique and original to the online world. When you limit your online business to affiliate marketing alone, you are competing with hundreds (if not thousands) of other marketers who are promoting the same product.

People can get excited about something fresh and new that appeals to their needs and hobbies. Even if your product covers topics that are already present online, you can add a fresh perspective and give your customers something of value.

Ebooks are easy to sell because you don't have to worry about producing and shipping your items. Ebooks and other digital products (videos, audio lessons and reports) can all be delivered by e-mail. You can use autoresponder technology to deliver your ebook automatically to your customer.

There are many ebooks available with resale rights, meaning you can sell the ebook to other customers. The only problem with this approach is that, just like with affiliate marketing, you are competing with other sellers who have the same book.

The most profitable strategy is to write and sell a book that you have written yourself. Everyone has knowledge on a topic that is of value to someone else. Your ebook will be exclusively from your ideas and from the research that you do. No one else online will have that piece of work, and you will profit more from this exclusivity.

The biggest problem people see with writing their own ebook is their perceived inability to write. Ebooks are not college papers, they are not fiction writing, they are not poetry. Ebooks are surprisingly easy to write, and can be finished in a matter of days. With a little planning, you can create a unique product that will help you corner your niche market.

The best approach to begin with is to break your ebook project into steps. First, write an outline that will detail the different sections of your book. Start brainstorming all of the topics that are relevant to your main ebook theme, and then organize them in an order that makes sense. Make your outline as detailed as possible; you can always cut down later. For now it's important to get all of your ideas down on paper.

Next you'll want to research the topic. Even if you have a high level of familiarity with your topic, you need to know as much as you can about it. The more you know, the easier your ebook will be to write. Find several sources that relate to your main sections, and record the websites, books or articles on a spreadsheet for later review.

Before you write each section of your ebook, review the sources relating to that section. Then approach the section like an article. This will break your ebook down into manageable chunks that are easier to handle.

Finally, make sure to re-read, edit and clean up your ebook before you call it "finished." You may even want to have someone else proofread the text so you can be assured that it makes sense to others and flows well. Nothing is worse than spending time marketing an ebook, only to find there is a glaring typo or misused word.

I've been toying with the idea of writing an ebook for a while but, I admit, the idea intimidates me a little. But this article makes writing an ebook seem a little less daunting. Thanks!
