For the purposes of this article we will assume that the father is not in in the picture.

Tip 1:

If this is your first child, and you are going to be a single mother then you need to educate yourself. Your body and mental outlook are going to be going through many changes. If you are aware of what is happening to your body then you will be prepared for the changes and understand them.

Tip 2:

Pick someone that you feel comfortable with. This is the person that will become your confidante. It doesn't matter whether it's male or female. It has to be someone that you can share your thoughts with. Being a single mother is not something to be ashamed of.

Tip 3:

Be sure to keep up with your regular Doctors visits. Never miss them if at all possible. Most pregnancies don't have any complications, but there are tests that are performed during the various stages of your pregnancy.

Tip 4:

If this is your first child then seen if you can attend some birthing classes. See it there is someone that is willing to be your labor partner. The individual that will be there to encourage you through your delivery. This is the person you want to go with you to your birthing classes. It at this stage that being a single Mother can be most frustrating.

Tip 5:

If you have other small children see if you can arrange for someone to look after them periodically especially in the later stages of your pregnancy. You will find you tire easier and need more rest.

Tip 6:

Don't leave everything to the last minute. Every week or so try and buy something that you are going to need for your new baby. Clothes, diapers, bottles and so forth. No one knows the exact date of the new arrival unless of course its going to be a c. section birth. You aren't going to feel like doing a lot of running around when you first get home so be prepared.

Tip 7:

If you have other children make sure you have arrangements in place for their care when you go to deliver your new baby. You don't want to be in a panic trying to find a sitter at the last minute.

Tip 8:

Try and make sure you have someone that is going to stand by and take you to the Hospital once you go into active labor.

Tip 9:

Tip 10:

Avoid over strenuous activities. Being pregnant does not mean you are an invalid but you must be a bit more cautious about lifting heavy objects especially in the later stages.

Tip 11:

Take care of yourself mentally. Be sure you continue to socialize, and enjoy some entertainment as often as you can.

Tip 12:

Most of all remember that you are never really alone. If you look around hard enough you will always someone willing to help. It may be a co worker, family member, or even a neighbor. Take advantage of friendship that is offered to you. Who knows someday you may be able to return the favor.
