Writing so Everyone Understands the Subject or Information

Hannah
Just recently, and honestly in the past as well, I had a real go round on the forum from posting a question about something that is a serious issue to most of us. It was about upfront paymetns on articles. Well, true blue to the forum the braggarts, self- centered, nasty people came out to play. Don't get me wrong there were some nice OP's that tried to help, and a few that actually stood up for me. Well, I am well aware those nasty people need help more than me. Too bad AC doesn't supply a forum for those type of people, that way they can have fun 24/7 ripping each other apart. I wouldn't participate, because I'm not one of those people, but it would sure be fun to see who the last jerk standing was! Anyway, I would like to tell those people who are fans of mine, and the general reading audience why I have chosen to write to the average ever day Joe, or Josephine, who just wants a little information or help with what's going on their daily life.

My goal is to share what I have learned and share it with others. So, rather than fill up an article with a lot of psychological mumbo jumbo, I choose to write in a way that the average person, and those with possible reading challenges, can understand, and enjoy my articles. I have been accused of having fluff in my articles. First of all I disagree with that. The definition of Fluff to me is information that is not worthwhile and just looks good on paper. I feel most of my articles, other than the ones I write just for fun, have important information in them that may help the average person. I also believe that most of the writers on AC do provide this as well. It doesn't do anyone any good if their article is so technical or hard to read that the average person doesn't want to get passed the first paragraph. Am I Pulitzer Prize winning author. probably not. Do I know how to reach my audience with information in an intimate, sometimes funny, and informative way. Yes, I believe I do. No matter how fancy the transportation is, if it breaks down before you get to your passenger, it does no one any good. I have no problems or criticisms of really elaborate or technical writers, there is an audience for everyone. However, what I do have a problem with is with some (Not all) of the arrogant, judgmental, so called professional writers picking apart work done by people who have a lot to offer, to a very wide audience. Some of the best. most read articles on AC or anywhere, are just plain old down home articles from amateur writers.

I am proud to say as a former counselor I was the type that could relate and reach a varied audience. Working with children and families was the best. Even when I worked with couples I kept it simple. Just like the saying KISS, Keep it simple stupid! I wasn't there to impress anyone, I was there to help them, and I feel did it in the very best way I could in order to get though to them. I believed I succeeded at that!

So, the next time you pompous, judgmental, cell centered, narcissistic, *****, come out to play, go play with the bullies, they're the only ones that want you around. But be careful, as they may cut your throat as well.

**P.S. If you really feel you need to read a more technical article I offer my research paper that was done for my substance abuse counseling class several ago titled; Alcohol and Domestic Violence:The Connection. It's quites interesting as it deals with history back in the 1800's, and how even back then their was a definite correlation between alcoholism and domestic vioence. I have to admit though even with that research paper I made it so everyone would want to read it. I guess I did okay, my dear professor gave me an A, and was quite impressed with it. This is not to brag, but to make the point that obviously my professor with a PhD, even she knew you must reach you audience in order to make a point!

Yep and that's what my articles are: simple, easy to understand and to the point.

Well stated. Simple is always best.

Anyone who can't explain what they know in everyday, easy-to-understand English, probably doesn't realy know what they are talking about. Jargon often conceals ignorance.
