Writing for the Web

Rosa Hayes
Writing for the web is one of the best things that people have come up with as far as working from job seekers are concerned. It has opened a door for many freelance writers as well as the occasional writer who wants to earn a little extra money from home.

To deal with being able to write for the web you will need to be able to catch the readers attention when they open the page that they want to read. This is done by using catchy phrases and headlines. Most people will not even read the entire entry that you wrote, they will usually scan it instead.

Readers like it when the entry is right to the point instead of a long entry that only offers them a little bit of information and to get the information that they want, they have to study the article hard.

Clearly, the shorter the entry, the better it is for the reader and writer both. Having a short entry that explains what they need to know is better than having a long entry that talks a lot of mumbo jumbo.

Make sure that you site your sources. This let's readers know where you found your information so that they know that you aren't making it up. This also helps with letting the reader know where they may find more information about the topic.

Write great information and keep the readers coming back for more. When you start a topic on something and you define it in a way that the reader can understand and make it interesting enough, the reader is going to want to keep coming back to learn more from you.

Keyword density has always been a favorite of mine. I have yet to learn how the keyword density is defined but from my knowledge, it has something to do with adding certain words into an article or post that makes search engines like Google to pick it up. For instance, if you were to write a post on making money and you used keywords like making money, work from home, make money by working from home, these are keywords that Google is familiar with and they will pick up on it easier.

Another thing that a lot of people do not realize is that Google uses a system called, web crawlers and when your post or article is updated, it is crawled by Google and it will pick up on post that are updated. To do this without actually updating your post or article is by a simple comment. Google will sometimes mistake comments as an update to your post, which could help you out in the long run.

The author has the responsibility to provide accurate information to his readers. The more useful information he shares with his readers the more popular an author becomes.
