He was coming to kill him. The warning came from a reliable source. It was time to act before the bullets fired, but were we prepared for what lied ahead? Did we know the consequences that would pour forth in innocent blood, lives lost over one man's word, and what if he was wrong? The damage was already done, and a price now had to be paid, change for a penny.
And betrayal cut deep. He looked to me for help, but I could not help him. This was not my battle. My war still lied ahead, but was I ready? Could I break my loyalty and take the life of the one that saved me? My finger curled around the trigger, but he was still trying to save me, a frog carrying me to safety over savage waters. But I remained his scorpion.
I wanted out, but getting out was never easy. And we have become targets of misfortune, and a shark was circling, capturing our scent. And if we did not agree to his terms, then there would be no peace but the cold hands of death, and he would see to that. So, what could we do but strike first, but were we already too late?
Dark roads lied ahead, but the past remained as clear as day. Tires swerved around conflict, thundering with intensity, and the steering wheel was held tightly in his hands. And loyalty shined in the rearview mirror, but were dark intentions closer than he knew? And headlights struggled to penetrate the truth, but all that was seen was the chaos left behind. And revenge was the destination that lied up ahead, but was Joshua ready to take his life?
He saved him. He never questioned his doubts, but he was not ready to let him go. But he knew that Joshua was already gone, but one mistake was tearing his world down. And he needed him, but would Joshua remain by his side? Or when the guns finally fell silent, would cold metal press up against the back of his head, and would the one that he saved take his life? But was he wrong?
Human nature is a conflicted beast. Loyalty are the ties that bind or the chains to be broken, but how far would we go for the right reasons not the wrong? What would we sacrifice to avenge what was lost, and could we destroy all that was given? Could we take a life, and if we break away, where would we go? Could we survive the chaos of a life now gone, and what would wait for us at the end of this road? And therein lies the conflict of our nature, torn between trust and revenge, and tearing at the depths of who we really are inside, a war waiting for its end. Intensity rises in a gripping tale heading straight into the darkest corners of our heart but taking a Wrong Turn at Tahoe.
