Look ahead to when you want to go. This will save you the most money possible. The farther ahead you make your plans with Disney and airlines the most discount you can make. But looking ahead also includes many things. Packing, training, planning and preparations. Packing is not anything massive, but looking forward allows you to purchase things you will need for the trip way in advance. Having what you need with you is such a good feeling, especially when you don't have to worry about it. I have my gear ready and packed the day before the trip. But I write down what I want to take a month or so before we head out.
Training is a strange word for Disneyland. Training for what you may ask. Well you are walking a lot of land during your day or days at the Magic Kingdom. Most guidebooks suggest walking a mile with your family for fun. No particular speed is necessary, just getting your body and feet used to walking long distances. This is smoothing you will be thankful for when you get there. Just walk for fun anywhere, but make sure you are doing this consistently. When your family goes you will be able to outlast most families. My family did this and noticed how much more energy we had at the parks.
Eventually near dinner time people get tired from walking and standing all day. They either go home, to their hotel, or eat a long relaxing dinner. Well we were still going and manage to ride major attractions at a fraction of normal wait times. This is a small thing to do, but it does pay off in the long run. Even after your trip, your body will have more energy and feel good.
Planning is very essential for a trip to Disneyland. Knowing what rides you want to ride and shows you want to see are important. Setting a gameplan will make the day easier and will get you where you want to be, wneh you want to be. Granted, not all plans are perfect and go according to plan. But having general knowledge of the day will save time. If your family does the, "where do you want to go?" "Oh, I don't care." thing then you are in trouble. Sitting down and figuring what rides you want to ride and what you dont will help you out. It can show you where you will spend most of your day and where to avoid. Then you can take your plan and set against normal crowd flows and popular rides to get the most bang for your buck.
Preparations are another thing that saves time in the end. Having extra clothes or bandages will be very useful, eventually. I'm saying you will need everything you take, but being ready won't hurt. Plus Disney will charge you way over what a band aid is worth. So financially and timewise, being prepared is well worth it.
