Linux is ever so slowly gaining traction in the computer world, and one of the easiest distributions to use for new users is called Ubuntu. New users to the Linux world usually have two big fears when starting out with Linux and they are; How do I install a new operating system? and can I really survive living without windows? For new users to the Linux community who are having these concerns actually have a great option it is called WUBI. WUBI stands for Windows Ubuntu Installer. WUBI is a great tool for anyone new to linux and is not sure if they want to dump windows for good yet.

WUBI is a small download you can grab which is an installer for ubuntu of kubuntu linux. Once you download WUBI you run the tiny program and you select if you want ubuntu or Kubuntu, then select how much hard drive space you want your linux system to use. Once you select these options and create a user name and password, pretty much all your work is done. Now that is easy linux, the WUBI installer takes away any of the hard things like partitioning the hard drive etc.

One you select your options you click next and WUBI will download the latest version of Ubuntu linux and prepare your computer for installation. Once that is done you will be asked to restart your computer and when it boots back up you are presented with a screen at the start and you can select either windows or ubuntu to boot into. Select ubuntu and WUBI will finish the installation process. once all this is complete you have officially installed linux along side your windows operating system.

Other then making linux a snap and easy to install WUBI also makes it eay for a non technical new linux user to get rid of it and use a 100% windows computer again. If you have installed with ubuntu with WUBI you can easily uninstall and wipe linux off your computer by restarting the computer and booting into windows. Then go into the control panal and uninstall Ubuntu as you would any other program you have installed on windows. If you partitioned the hard drive and installed ubuntu linux yourself then deleting it off your system would never be this easy. WUBI is the best way for new users to install and give ubuntu linux a try.
