WWE Announces the Long Awaited Return of Bret "Hitman" Hart

So last night on Raw, things for the most part actually kept my attention for the first time in a few weeks. Yea Timbaland was not greatest of hosts, but he sure beat out Dennis Miller and Johnny "No Charisma" Damon, that's for sure.

The big news spawning from last night's edition of Monday Night Raw was the blockbuster announcement of next week's guest host. For the first time in over 12 years, we will see the in-ring presence of the legendary Bret "Hitman" Hart. Yes, you saw that right.

Vince McMahon made the announcement last night (yes, again, you saw THAT right), with a little encouragement from none other than "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, who was in on the now infamous Montreal Screwjob of 19997.

This will be Hart's first Raw appearance since November 3, 1997, and his first Monday night appearance in wrestling since 2000, after Goldberg prematurely ended his career.

The now infamous event took place at the 1997 Survivor Series in Montreal. The finish of the match was changed without Bret's knowledge, and he subsequently left the WWE after that night and signed a deal with Ted Turner's WCW shortly after.

Bret surfaced in WCW about a month later, and just remotely floated around the company for the next couple of years before his career was cut short following a match with Bill Goldberg, where Bret took a big kick to the head that left him with a concussion.

In 2002, Bret suffered a stroke and another concussion, following a bicycle ride. It was at that point that Bret made the decision that a 20-plus year career had to come to an end.

Bret has since done several screen plays, including "Aladdin" as well as writing a couple of books that sent him on a large overseas tour to promote.

Bret recently signed a four-month contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, that will see him as an on-air personality starting next Monday in Dayton, Ohio. The contract is tentatively scheduled to run through WrestleMania 26 in Arizona.
