WWE: Great American Bash Review

Nick
Hosted by World Wrestling Entertainment, The Great American Bash is a Pay Per View program in which viewers can survey some of the most exciting matches and story lines of the year. Taking a break from the regular weekly shows, this event offers a whole lot more! Title matches, and unexpected story lines regulate at these events. The Great American Bash is not the only kind of event the WWE offers. The company has these events approximately every month, including just a few- SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Vengeance, and the world-renowned WresleMania.

What was the match-up card?
For this event, these matches were scheduled and conducted: MVP Vs. Matt Hardy (United States Championship) - Cruiser weight Open Match (Cruiser weight Championship) - Carlito Vs. The Sandman - Candice Michelle Vs. Melina (Women's Championship) - Umaga Vs. Jeff Hardy (Intercontinental Championship)John Morrison Vs. CM Punk (ECW Championship) - Randy Orton Vs. Dusty Rhodes (Texas Bull-Rope Match) - The Great Khali Vs. Batista Vs. Kane (World Heavyweight Championship) - John Cena Vs. Bobby Lashley (WWE Championship)

As with any contests or competitions, there are winners and there are losers. Below, are my thoughts of each match and the official result.

Match 1: MVP Vs. Matt Hardy
As scheduled, this match was for the United States Championship which MVP held. When WWE first released this bout, I immediately knew it would be an excellent match. Both of these men have the potential to make it big in their young careers. In the past, and in recent weeks, the two have had some pretty good matches together. They do not see eye-to-eye in anything, which made the hype for this match even greater. Although, while talking about "hype", I think that WWE did a poor job in advertising this match. Sure they ran their TV ads, and what not, but beside the matches, there was really no story lines to go along with this feud. It turned out good in the end, with an even and some-what clean match. When the ref hit the mat for the third time, the announce was heard saying "The winner of the match, and STILL the United States Champion... MVP!" I thought the victory was a great one, and we can be sure MVP will fulfill his bragging rights next week on SmackDown!

Match 2: Cruiser weight Open Match
This match was not advertised at all, and nobody knew it was coming. I really do not know why they had this match, but they did. The competitors were: Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang, Funaki, Chavo Guerrero, and Hornswaggle. Short match for a short person! The ending saw Hornswaggle come from under the ring in the middle of the match, and splash Noble for the win. Hornswaggle captured the Cruiser weight Championship from Chavo Guerrero, as he ran up the ramp with the belt- bigger than him!

Match 3: Carlito Vs. The Sandman
We had about two weeks of a storyline for this match, but overall it turned out good. There was a stipulation in the match. The stipulation being that Sandman's Singapore Cane would be tied to the top. The first person to get the cane would be able to legally use it during the match. In the end, Carlito walked away the winner. Yes, you heard that right... Carlito beat the beer-guzzling, cane swinging Sandman. Sounds like it would never happen, but lets face it. When has Sandman won cleanly, lately? He hasn't! I mean, I like the Sandman, but he has poor wrestling skills and needs to cheat by using his Singapore cane during all matches. I don't think Sandman will be putting a loss on any younger Superstar's records. Maybe on someone like Ric Flair, but not on Carlito. How would that look? Sandman beats Carlito... that would most likely never happen. Carlito is on the road to Super Stardom, as Ric Flair is at the end of his career. But my overall view of this match... I would give it about a 7 out of ten, just because of the competitors.

Match 4: Candice Michelle Vs. Melina
Now, who didn't see this coming? Everyone in the world could have told you that Candice Michelle would walk away with the title. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. This match was just a waste of time in my opinion, but I did enjoy...watching them! Anyways, divas matches bore me. Most of the divas do not pull off the moves correctly, and you can tell their performances are fake. I did not enjoy this match at all, as it was obvious who was going to win. Think about it... why would Candice Michelle win the title 3 weeks before she is set to lose it to the same person? I think WWE did a bad just hyping this match, and an even worse job adding the stipulation. Candice Michelle won.

Match 5: Umaga Vs. Jeff Hardy
Just like the divas match, it was obvious who was going to win. Only one man has ever beaten Umaga, and that is the WWE Champ... John Cena! So yea, if someone like Kane has a tough time controlling this "Samoan Bulldozer", what does that mean for Jeff Hardy? PP- Pain and Punishment. However, on the bright side Hardy has the speed and agility. Whenever Jeff Hardy steps into the ring I always know we are in for a good match- even if he is fighting someone twice, maybe even thrice his size! The finishing saw Umaga bite down on the Intercontinental Championship belt, and walk away to the back as the winner, leaving Jeff Hardy dismantled in the middle of the ring.

Match 6: John Morrison Vs. CM Punk
I hope I spelt his name correct, I believe I did. Formerly known as Johnny Nitro, Morrison announced his persona change last Tuesday on ECW. His new look, new name, and new entrance such contribute to his new hardcore style. Morrison is leaving his old self behind, and starting out with a "new lease on life". Back to business here, Morisson defeated CM Punk to retain the ECW Champion. You have to admit, watching John Morrison in the ring is like heading into a battlefield in the military. You never know whats going to happen. Morrison is so quick, and has some of the best wrestling abilities I have seen in a long time. At this stage of the game, I think Morrison is better off with the championship than CM Punk, even though I favor Punk. Punk is also another one I respect because of his abilities in the ring, but I really cannot picture him as the champ. He has a unique persona that I have seen no past champion carry. I do not think he would be a popular champ, as John Cena, Triple H, or even Edge. We will see what the upcoming weeks have in store.

Match 7: The Great Khali Vs. Kane Vs. Batista
GREAT MATCH!
This match must have been my favorite match ever. Three giants squaring off for the ultimate prize in Sports Entertainment. Three gladiators fighting until the death, and then fighting some more! During this match, I picked Khali to win the championship. He won it less than a week ago, he is 7' 3", 420 lbs., and is one of the most dominating forces in the WWE. Even though Kane could beat him, he will not be holding any more major titles, if any at all. He clearly stated that he would be retiring soon, and does not want to take all the spotlight in his final months. He would rather save it for the "new guys". Batista... Batista Batista Batista. What can I say? I hate the guy. He doesn't get his way and he has a five-year old tantrum. He loses all his major matches, and was even banned from getting a title match as long as Edge was the champ. He has had too many opportunities to capture the gold, but time after time he has failed. Where is his career going? Not far!

Match 8: John Cena Vs. Bobby Lashley
When first announced, I knew this would be one of the best matches in WWE History. Two powerhouses facing off in the battle of strength. Two muscle bound men fighting with no remorse. This match was the best match of the night. The only thing I did not like was... John Cena coming out still the champion. His 300+ day reign as champion has to come to an end soon. He can't wrestle. He can't win a match on Raw (when it's not for the title), and barely ever gets 5 moves in. But, in title matches he suddenly becomes this superhuman who came pick of The Great Khali. He suddenly become someone who can beat Umaga. He suddenly can beat anyone who walks in his path. The storyline is boring, and not entertaining one bit. They need to reward the championship to someone else, and they will... they will soon!

**SPOILER!! SPOILER!!**
Do not read below if you do not want to get information for a future Pay-Per-View.

Right now, I hear the Triple H is returning at SummerSlam and will defeat John Cena for the WWE Championship! Yes, you have heard that right. A friend of mine knows Triple H (So I occasionally speak to the wrestler), and he was saying Hunter told him himself. I just hope this comes out correct, because we need a new champ!
