The Money in the Bank match is a match that puts several WWE Superstars into the ring with one mission - to recover the Money in the Bank briefcase that is suspended high above the center of the ring. How do these Superstars do that? They have to use a ladder that takes them well up into the arena heights, all while fighting off the other wrestlers and keeping their balance long enough to retrieve the briefcase. The benefit of winning the match is that the Superstar gets an open contract for a Championship match against any champion, anytime, anywhere. This includes after said Champion has been beaten and battered seconds later in a different match. The contract means almost certain Championship Gold to the winner. Here is a look at the line up of matches for the PPV, including the two Money in the Bank matches:
Money in the Bank PPV Matches:
Women's Champion Layla vs. Kelly Kelly
Many people feel that the women's division in the WWE is hurting due to a lack of development of the characters. This match is a step in the right direction. It is perhaps the first time that these two have headlined at a PPV for the women, so that is progress. Kelly Kelly seems primed for a huge push in the Diva Division, and Layla has done a decent job as Co-Champion with Michelle McCool. Still, it seems as though this division has a long ways to go. Expect Kelly Kelly to win gold for the first time.
Unified Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso
The Hart Dynasty has truly put a fire under the tag team division, and it is about time. The WWE has ignored the tag teamers for quite some time, and this match is a good example of tag team wrestling at it's finest. A solid feud driven by weeks of battles, and a good story line to add fuel to the fire. The Hart Dynasty is likely to walk out as Champions again here, but the Uso's are making a name quickly.
Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Randy Orton, John Morrison, Evan Bourne, United States Champion The Miz, Ted DiBiase, Chris Jericho and Edge.
The first Money in the Bank ladder match will be a hot one with Raw Superstars going at it for that elusive briefcase. There are no shortage of personal vendettas going on here as well, as Randy Orton and Edge have been feuding heavily for months. Figure in the always dangerous Chris Jericho and characters like the Miz and Ted DiBiase and you are likely to have a powder keg waiting to happen. High flyer Evan Bourne is sure to light up the match with some high risk excitement as well, but I expect that John Morrison will finally walk away with a big PPV win.
SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Big Show, Matt Hardy, Christian, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes,Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Kane
The Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match is sure to be just as exciting as the hatred runs even deeper. Matt Hardy, Christian and Drew McIntyre are all in the middle of a feud with Dolph Ziggler and Kane hunting everyone. Big Show is always dangerous and of course everyone is trying to derail the Jamaican Superstar, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston. I expect newly packaged superstar Cody Rhodes to step up and win this one, however, as the WWE is rumored to be preparing him for a big push.
World Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger
This is a match that people are kind of nervous about. Jack Swagger won the belt a short time back and the entire WWE Universe yawned. True to their push of Swagger, the WWE is now pushing him again. Unfortunately, it looks like yet another reign of terror for Swagger. Hopefully the WWE universe does not fall asleep entirely.
WWE Champion Sheamus vs. John Cena (Steel Cage Match)
Cena has had a ton of problems lately with "The Nexus" so this match is easy enough to predict. Cage or no cage, The Nexus will show up and screw things up for Cena. While I am enjoying the story line with the Nexus, I am not enjoying this seemingly random match with Sheamus when he should really be facing the Nexus. Sheamus could be defending the belt against someone new for a change. Regardless, expect Sheamus to come out on top.
