The site allows you to track your calorie intake, exercise completed, water intake and your weight loss. Or weight gained.
First you set up a profile that includes your height and weight. You can also set a goal weight.
Then you log the foods you consume everyday.
Most products and fast food menus are already in the system.
For example, the Uncle Hershel's Breakfast at Cracker Barrel is listed at 499 calories and the Fried Zucchini at Cheesecake Factory is listed at 541 calories. That's not counting the Ranch Dressing to dip it in.
If it is a Wendy'a baked potato with sour cream and cheese your craving, well that is 370 calories.
If you are a stay home and make a sandwich type person, then you might look at Nature's Pride Whole Wheat Bread with 70 calories per slice. Also, be sure to choose mustard over mayo, as mustard has no calories.
Snack wise, watch out for those Hostess Twinkies at 150 calories each and those little Hostess small chocolate donettes that you can consume in one chomp, well they are 60 calories each.
If pizza is what the taste-buds are craving, just know that two slices of Pizza Hut cheese pizza is 640 calories and if you need to top that off with a piece of cherry dessert pizza, then you have added another 260 calories.
All is not lost though, you can work some of these calories off.
After my fattening binge at Pizza Hut, I hit the gym.
After 26 minutes on the exercise bike, I completed four miles and burned 218 calories, not quite all of that dessert pizza.
So off to the elliptical cross-trainer for 14 minutes and 151 calories burned followed by 26 minutes of walking on the treadmill at various speeds burned off another 116 calories.
Thanks to these numbers provided by www.myfitnesspal.com, I felt like I had maybe burned off most of my meal.
So far I have found the site to be educational and helpful.
You can also connect with friends on the site and like Facebook, see each others progress or failures.
Since signing up six days ago, I have lost four pounds. I can't say that I am eating any better, but maybe less. I still like my 150 calorie Twinkies.
The site also has an application for your cellular phone, so you can sit at the table and key in your calories and drive the people you are with crazy.
So log on, start calorie counting and losing weight.
