Wyoming Polls: Barack Obama to Hold the Line in Wyoming Caucus

Saul Relative
Senator Hillary Clinton stopped Senator Barack Obama's streak of primary and caucus wins at 11 with her victory in Rhode Island and reaffirmed her viability as a contender for the Democratic nomination for president by winning handily in Ohio and holding on to win the Texas Primary (the caucus results for Texas are still being tabulated). But does that mean anything to the people of Wyoming? Wyoming is the next Democratic contest point and will conduct their state caucus Saturday, March 8.

But Senator Clinton will have a difficult time in Wyoming if this year's caucuses and primaries in the Plains states are to be indicators of Wyoming's bent. It started with Obama surprisingly winning the Iowa Caucus. But he has won all the other Plains states that have voted thus far, as well as all the Rocky Mountain states and Washington state. Clinton won the entire block of Southwestern states from Texas to California (she even won Nevada by actual vote count but ended up in a delegate tie because of the Democratic representational apportioning method of delegate selection). And since race has been no real factor in the Plains states (whose populations are predominantly caucasian), Senator Clinton cannot even depend on race bias to help her out.

And since Wyoming is a caucus, Senator Clinton may have problems there as well. Senator Obama's campaign has seemed to be very effective with getting out the vote in the Caucus states. David Gergen and John King have often told CNN audiences that Obama's people are better organized and have been able to consistently get people to the polls in the caucus states. They have been able to mobilize young and urban populations to show up for the caucuses. And numbers make all the difference.

Obama took the North Dakota Caucus, 61% to 37%. The numbers were similar in Colorado's caucuses, 67% to 32%. He crushed Clinton in Idaho, 79% to 17%. Obama won Washington 68% to 31%. He also won Kansas 74% to 26%.

Clinton has done well in primaries, but Wyoming is not a primary. And as stated earlier, Obama has his political ducks in a row when it comes to getting out the vote for caucuses. Clinton may get a small bump from her wins on Tuesday, March 4, but those wins came from primaries as well. The Senator from New York will probably have to wait a few contests for another victory.

There has been no polling done in the state according to the Associated Press. But there are 12 delegates up for grabs Saturday. Governor Dave Freudenthal has refused to back either candidate. However, John Millin, who is the Democratic state party chair, has thrown his endorsement behind Senator Obama.

The Clinton camp is not letting history deter it, though, as they will begin campaigning in the state on Thursday. Camp Obama arrives on Friday.

Still, even with a hard-hitting, whirlwind circuit of the state, Senator Clinton faces an uphill battle in Woming, given previous indicators. But hope prevails in a candidacy that was all but counted out going into Texas and Ohio (and Vermont and Rhode Island). And Wyoming may be for Clinton what Iowa was for Obama -- a surprise victory.

Why does the media continue to state how many black people are voting for Obama? How many black people are in Wyoming? Blacks are not the only ones voting for Obama. In Mississippi about 90% of black voted for Obama but 72% of whites voted for Clinton. Clinton isn't getting 72% of the votes from Hispanics so does that fact that 72% of the whites in Mississippi voted for her show that they are still racist in that part of the South? Maybe so but the media won't speculate about that. The media has not been fair to Obama and yet he still leads Clinton, it's certainly not because he's black, it's because he' a uniter.

Hillary voted for the war based on the same intelligence. Then as the war went on & she saw how bush was running things she began to vote against it. Obama made a speech opposing the war than when he was elected Sen. he began voting the SAME WAY Hillary did. Obamas forgein(sp?) policy adviser said that pulling troops out of Iraq when/if he takes office is the BEST CASE SENCIORO. His adviser told this to a BBC reporter. LOOK IT UP. It extremely frightening seeing & listening to obamas following. Seriously its a bit creepy. Its cult like. In their eyes he can do no wrong. HE IS NOT A ROCK STAR. His superficial charisma is just an act. Remember you are supporting him to be the commander in chief the most important job in the world today. This is not american idol! GROW UP.

Hillary helped George invade Iraq. That made her a part of the cause of everyone's woes.

Now, she wants to look as if she had nothing to do with being the cause, but instead, she is the cure.

    WHAT????????????????????????

Hopefully, Hillary will be the democratic nominee. If she is she will get my vote this November. If it turns out to be Obama, Mccain will get my vote this November.

I find that funny seeing that Obama erased her double digit 20-30 point leads about errr.. TWELVE times?!? Btw, I'LL say it.. Hillary AND Bill are MONSTERS! And I think it ridiculous to play this oh the media is so darling with Obama because it's not true. Especially as Canada and England are publishing lies that benefit Clinton. The Nafta gate was CLINTON'S camp yet OBAMA took the fall for it and it took until FRIDAY when news cycles for readers are there LOWEST before they pointed it out?

Obama's getting preferential treatment?!? Yeah right.. if that preference is to be raked across coals without reporters doing their RESEARCH!

Oh I love people like you. Latte Liberal young punks who swallow everything they hear on the news. Then you type in the address for factcheck.org! oh snap you are so intelligent & passionate man i am shocked. By the way kids, he's wrong on just about everything. Also the whole canadian NAFTA issue is not a distortion. This kid below me really hasn't read anything.

Also to clear things up on experience:
Obama has 11 years of Elected Legislative experience.
Clinton has 7 years of Elected Legislative experience (She was in the US Senate longer than Obama)
Clinton also was of course married to President Clinton, and thus lived in the Whitehouse for 8 years.

Now I wouldn't count living in the Whitehouse as experience anymore than I would count living with a Doctor as experienced medical practice experience, but she did work on an attempt to reform Healthcare during that time as part of a special committee appointment, so I think she deserves to count a year or two of that as experience.

To me that says they are in general fairly matched in terms of experience.

    (Stay informed)

I am absolutely appalled by the arrogance of Hillary Clinton to hint herself as being the number one and Obama to play the second fiddle at this stage in the race. Fact remains that she is behind Obama in pledged delegates count and will stay behind with both sides exchanging victories here and there. Hillary Clinton getting ahead in the pledged delegate count doesn't look mathematically possible. But then Math was not the strong suit of Either Hillary or 'Illiterate Elite' of this country who votes for her. If they could do their Math right they would have voted for Obama anyways. These are the very people who get burned by Washington insider like Hillary Clinton who if nominated would make sure that they would all have that third day job she promised them.

If you think the US media is for Obama your nuts. Those of you who still think Obama had illegal dealings with Rezko, or that he called Canada about NAFTA, that he might be a Muslim, or any other of the Clinton spin; you're living proof. Try using factcheck.org. These were all distortions and lies put out by the Clinton campaign. The press reported everything she said, and then when the truth comes out they give it two seconds in the tail end of a show.
If that's Obama bias, he doesn't need it.
In the case of NAFTA, the Clinton campaign called Canada to take their own rhetoric with a grain of salt, and then accused Obama of doing the exact same thing. The truth only came out after Canada investigated the issue, and coincidently after the Ohio primary was over.
Please check all facts and be an informed voter. If you still want Hillary fine, but don't discount Obama based on fabricated stories.

If you want to get in to a scandal contest with me bring it on. I have MUCH more Hillary baggage than you can conjure up about
Obama. The fact is Obama will end up with the most delegates even IF the DNC seeds Florida -- so you sore losers out there -- say hello to the demise of your cackling witch.
