A Repressionist Poem

Walton S. Tissot

Singularly
The human
An individual
Such as you
Such as me

And though your eyes are open
And you seem awake and aware
We are in fact now sleeping

A culture grows in an artificial environment called a culture media
The artificial environment is supplied by the media
By including or excluding particulars
The media control's what will develop
And what will not

One morning
I was looking out the window
And thinking for my self
A delicate daydream
Delusion
An indulgence;
The why I will not

Lost maybe
Though never nothing less then I started with
- And dreaming

We all need places to go
Perpetually pursuing
Mind and soul

Anthropic
Constants
Value
A necessary being
Fine tuning
Inflationary
The philosophers' god
All in the mind
Action
Thought
Location
Where we are
Food and water
Sleep
The dreams -
We're all dreaming

I particularly like the lines "A delicate daydream / Delusion / An indulgence; / The why I will not " It invokes a thought in me that this beautiful future of free thought and progression, that hope, is sliding into the world of delusion and fantasies. That if we wait too much longer to act, that future may no longer be attainable so long as we let the media destroy every last bit of inspiration and unconventionalism. Needless to say I like this one :)

Deep. I particularly like the idea that "We all need places to go/ Perpetually pursuing/ Mind and soul." Whenever I start to feel a but off or cranky, I realize I haven't taken the time to just sit and reflect or pray. (Working in the garden is good for this). There are so many things to distract us now. We have to make the time to do nothing and/or work on self-improvement, both mentally and spiritually.

This poem is such a reflection of what I've been feeling lately. I have so many people agree thay, yes, certain parts of our culture are wrong but that's "just the way it is" . That statement drives me crazy. NOTHING is ever "just the way it is". They never question why. It is this kind of "sleep" that lets the world burn while we all stand by with water in our hands. Then again, I feel half asleep myself. . .

S0 true. Becoming aware and awake are our only hope. It is possible, but very difficult. :-)

.I thought I was awake and just not paying attention.
