Xbox 360 2011 Preview: 10 Xbox 360 Games to Look Forward to in 2011

Lee Andrew Henderson
In 2010 the Xbox 360 finally started selling more consoles than the Nintendo Wii and DS. In 2011 Microsoft will try and keep the momentum going with a nice slate of games. The games include just two exclusive titles but they are possibly the two biggest games of the year. The other eight games are multi-platform games and should all do well on the Xbox 360.

Mass Effect 3
Mass Effect 2 was considered by many to be the best game in 2010 and the next installment of the series will hit stores for the holiday season in 2011. The developers have said that Mass Effect 3 will be final installment in the story starring Commander Shepard. The first two games have both been game of the year candidates so you know Bioware will have something up their sleeve for the finale.

Gears of War 3
While the Mass Effect franchise is getting better with each installment, Gears of War simply makes a horizontal movement. Gears of War 3 probably won't be any better than the previous games but it should at least be on par with them. If you like the previous games then Gears of War 3 will probably be satisfying.

Batman: Arkham City
For a long time video game adaptations of comic books were as bad as comic book adaptations of movies. The recent Batman video game laid waste to that theory about as strongly as the movie did. Batman: Arkham Asylum was a game of the year candidate and Arkham City figures to be too.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Since we're on the topic of video game adaptations of comic books, one of the few great comic book games before Arkham Asylum was the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Marvel vs. Capcom hasn't gotten the attention it deserves in the past but the third installment is being pushed pretty hard and should be the top fighting game in 2011.

Metal Gear Solid Rising 3
Metal Gear Solid fans will now be able to play the franchise on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately those fans looking forward to controlling Solid Snake are out of luck. The newest game in the Metal Gear Solid series will star the recurring character Raiden instead.

Portal 2
The original Portal was one of the surprise hits of the Xbox 360 so naturally that can only mean one thing, a sequel. It will be interesting to see if the puzzles will be different enough this time around to still be fun. Fortunately there has been a co-op mode added for those gamers that like multiplayer.

Mortal Kombat
The next Mortal Kombat video game is set to be released in 2011. Not much has changed in the Mortal Kombat series, other than the brief team up with DC Comics, so don't expect anything groundbreaking. Fans of previous Mortal Kombat games should be satisfied though.

Dragon Age II
Dragon Age: Origins is possibly the best role-playing game of the past few years and thanks to the downloadable content their fans were able to play for the game for some time. Finally there is a Dragon Age II sequel in 2011 and don't be surprised if the Dragon Age series becomes the top role-playing franchise.

Crysis 2
Crysis might not have as big a name as the Gears of Wars and Call of Duties of the game but the first Crysis was an excellent shooter. The sequel will hit the Xbos 360 in March and will introduce a new game engine called the CryEngine 3.

Brink
Brink is a game that everyone should try simply because it is the only game on this list that isn't a sequel. Brink is a first person shooter so it will be difficult for it to differentiate it from other shooters but hopefully gamers will give this new blood a chance in the shooter market.
