Xbox 360: NBA Live 10 Review

Dwight Howard managed to defeat Mecha Kobe Bryant once in the NBA Finals, but underestimated the remarkable power of his "Mean Face."What's the consolation prize? the cover of Live 10. The Live series of games have a lineage in the gaming industry. When you want to play an accurate simulation of the real thing, you play NBA Live. Does Live 10 manage to withstand it's fierce competition?

Dynamic DNA makes it's return, this time re-branded as Dynamic Season. If Kevin Garnet once again suffers an injury that threatens Boston's championship run this season, He's just as useful to you in the game as he is to The Celtics when he's injured in real life. I kinda like this feature, but it's a double sided sword i.

For example: I'm a fan of Tracy McGrady. He's a very entertaining player, but has been known to fold like...some kind of folding object. He he's not a hundred percent, McGrady is no good. Dynamic Season becomes a pain in the butt when injury prone players are exempted from getting at least a hand full of mulligans every year. I think Live 11 should have a feature called "Dynamic do-overs" to offset this somehow.

"Thats pretty funny, but how does the game play this year?" Same as last year, only with more pick and rolls. I'm hoping to coin the phrase "pick n' rollin!" because of how effecting it is in Live 10. If you are getting man handled online, feel free to start spamming the pick and roll. Good players will figure out a way to shut it down, while others will accuse you of exploiting a "glitch."

When not intentionally exploiting my friend's lack of proper defense, I enjoy just staring at the beauty that is next gen graphics. NBA Live 10 looks pretty good, but but not as great as it should look. Players look like soulless automatons, with a waxy complexion. It's very haunting. If you pause the game for more than twenty seconds, you'll hear the ghost of Shaquille O'Neal's acting career!

NBA Live 10 is a great game with only a few shortcomings. Being able to construct custom tourneys was neat and all, but I feel as though more could have been done with this game. Where are the international teams? David Stern wants to make the NBA a world league, so including a few Olympic teams would have been something cool to see. Live 10 is another solid edition to a great series of games.
