Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii: Which System is Better?

Video game consoles are in practically every home in the United States, and the dominating 3 are the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. But which system is better?

It depends on who you ask. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are popular amongst the teen generation and young adults, but the Nintendo Wii has a child based following and an increasing older adult following, with the introduction of "interactive" play and the Wii Fit. Here is an analysis of each video game console and it's pros and cons.

1. Xbox 360-Microsoft: Created by the mastermind behind our PC and everything Windows, the Xbox 360 offers the player a rich game experience using an interactive menu for games, music, video and much more. You can create an avatar that represents yourself and see your friends' avatars. The Xbox 360 also offers various titles that are popular today, such as the Halo series and the Call of Duty series. The most popular feature of the Xbox 360 is Xbox Live, where for a small annual membership fee you and your friends can play online and form teams to score points. The downside to the Xbox 360 is that it is the older gaming console of the 3, so they are a bit behind on new features that can allow the gamer to have a better experience. Also, those who own the older version of the Xbox 360 have come across the now famous "Ring of Death", which is when the power button on the Xbox 360 turns red, indicating the console is damaged, and from what I've heard, it is almost impossible to repair. Those who own this console purchase a separate cooling unit for the console to prevent it from overheating, which is the main cause for the red ring. And even though it had a recent price cut of $100.00, many still find the console to be expensive, considering, as I mentioned above, that it is the older console of the 3. But even with all this, consumers still purchase the console in droves, especially around Christmas time, because the expansive collection of games available for the Xbox 360.

2. Playstation 3-Sony: The Playstation was first introduced around the time the Sega Genesis console was very popular, and it basically buried the Sega console in the ground. The popularity of Playstation 2 made Sony a very rich company, thanks to the fact the console was not over priced and you could play your Playstation 1 games. Many popular game franchises were first introduced to the Playstation game console, one being the God of War series. The Playstation 3 game console is the one with the best graphic capability of them all, offering HD quality and stunning fluidity in game play. The titles available for the Playstation 3 are graphically amazing. The popular feature of the Playstation 3 is that it doubles as a Blu-Ray player, allowing you to play your Blu-Ray content with rich HD quality. The downside? It's expensive as heck. This console also got a price cut, but to get the storage quality sought after most players, you would need to buy one with more memory, and that tends to be up in the $400 mark. There are still tweaks being fixed for the console, and the online connection isn't always so reliable. Still, this console remains pretty popular amongst consumers, and with more titles promised and the price cut, expect this console to increase in sales in the upcoming months.

3. Nintendo Wii-Nintendo: The Nintendo game consoles have always ranked high amongst the younger generation, and when I mean younger, I am talking about children. Every console Nintendo has put out always offers a variety of kid-friendly titles and fun graphics with lots of colors and engaging music. The most popular titles have been the Zelda games and the Mario Brothers' games, which rank high amongst the kiddies. The Wii takes gaming to a whole new level though, offering interactive play using wireless remotes and additions to allow the gamer to have a more fun experience. And it has the adults hooked. With titles ranging from carnival games to golf to music games (Guitar Hero), this is fun for the whole family. The only complaint about the Wii has been amongst the teens and young adults in that it doesn't offer much in the way of Mature content like the other 2 consoles offer. And the fact that the online community isn't as feature rich as the other 2. But Nintendo knows that keeping children and parents happy is the way to make money and this strategy has not failed them yet.

So, which one is the best? Depending on your taste, any one of the 3 gaming consoles deserves the title.
