When it comes to video gaming we have come quite the way since Atari. Video game consoles have evolved and the consoles of the past are now looked upon as ancient artifacts that will one day dress the exhibits of museum hallways. When it comes time to consider which of these consoles you will purchase for yourself, your kids, or even a loved one there are numerous aspects of each that should be recognized and then evaluated for your personal needs and preferences.
As of now there are three leading giants that rule the kingdom of consoles all sitting on a throne of there own providing certain qualities that should be dissected and weighed in order to decipher which one will best qualify for what it is that you may be looking for in particular. The three consoles that we will be discussing in this article are the Xbox 360 by Microsoft, the Playstation 3 by Sony, and finally the Wii by Nintendo.
The Xbox 360 is by all means a computer within itself. This beautiful piece of Microsoft art comes fully equipped with it's own hard drive as well as full online capabilities. All of these qualities come standard with your purchase besides a gamer tag which must be bought separately for a months at a time which will allow the player to create an alter ego or gamer tag in order to compete with other online competitors. This has by all means evolved into a sub-culture within itself. The Xbox 360 allows video game enthusiasts to take their gaming to the next level. It also doubles as a DVD player with all the capabilities your average DVD player would have. What really separates this console from its rivals is the graphics mixed with the amount of games that Microsoft puts out, not to mention that this is the console that most of the world runs on as one can clearly see with the amount of people that are involved with Xbox Live aka their online gaming system. Xbox 360 is by all means my personal favorite out the three consoles that are in question. I personally own an Xbox 360 and I have no regrets about my investment. The only queries I have about this system is a little software problem that is coming up in the Xbox community. It is known as the "Ring of Death" and like the name suggests when a red three quarter circle appears on any of the white Xboxes then you should immediately contact Microsoft and send your Xbox 360 to them in order to completely fix this problem or be forced to send you a completely new white Xbox 360. An easy way to avoid this problem would be to purchase the $100 dollar upgraded black Xbox 360 which is claimed by Microsoft to be glitch free. This means it will never be diagnosed with the plague that has taken so many other consoles. Overall one should not worry about this little problem and take the leap like so many others before them into the Xbox 360 community.
The next console we will talk about is Playstation 3 which probably tops Xbox with graphics and comes with an even better DVD system which includes Blu Ray capabilities. Playstation 3 has a rival online gaming system which they offer to all of their gamers free of charge which may only be for a short while more seeing as they wish to expand therefore needing to charge people in order to build a more efficient online community that will be able to rival the giant Microsoft heads that are popping up left and right. My queries with the Playstation is plain and simple, there are just not enough great titles for the amount of money you have to spend in order to buy this more expensive piece of equipment. They have fewer "big hit" games and after awhile it can became mundane looking for titles to constantly enjoy such as Call of Duty 5. When one considers all of the faults of Xbox 360 it still does not seem to amount to the problems Playstation 3 has built a reputation around in the few short years it has had since its much anticipated release. To me, Playstation 3 was a major let down that can still easily be fixed by minor changes which will eventually lead to major leaps for this console.
Finally we will discuss my least favorite console out of the three, which by no means discredits Nintendo. The Wii just simply was meant for something other than what I would like to get out of a console. It is a more hands on system that if you ask me is mainly targeted for much younger audiences or much older audiences, essentially new gamers. This is the system one should think about buying if they are not looking to spend a ton of money as well as owning a system that anyone can pick up and enjoy for short periods of time with large groups of people (think party settings). If you take yourself as a serious gamer than trust me Wii just will not fill that void in your life, but if your looking for a cheap system for merely entertainment purposes then this is right up your alley.
Overall these are the major consoles in the world of gaming right now. So hopefully with these suggestions you will be able to make your decision easily and effectively for what it is you are looking for in particular. After all remember its just a game.
