Xbox Live MarketPlace on Your PC

Matt Remley
Recently Mircosoft has been on a spree when it comes to updates for their Xbox Live service. Microsoft's most recent update was the introduction of avatars to represent the players, the ability to install Xbox 360 games on the system's hard drive, and finally the ability to access NetFlix on Xbox 360. Now it appears that Microsoft is taking these new steps in quality of service to a new level.

What is Microsoft up to this time? In a post Xbox 360 price reduction world, Microsoft is taking great steps in its quality of service, so this latest introduction is no surprise to users; Infact, it has been long awaited. That's right, Microsoft is adding Xbox Live MarketPlace features to its already extensive website. According to CNET News, the feature has been fully opperational around November 27th 2008.

This new way of accessing Microsoft's Xbox Live MarketPlace service allows users to visit the website and choose from the entire line up of game add-ons, music videos, television shows, movies, Xbox Live Arcade games, and so on. All choices will be added to a download queue and will be ready for your Xbox 360 to download when connected to the Internet.

For Xbox Live members, this addition has been long awaited and will be celebrated. No longer will users have to shift through slugish Xbox menus to find downloads. Additionally, Xbox Live users will be able to view download and purchase histroy, and even re-download past media. It's very interesting to see Microsfot working so hard on quality control, who knows what they may work on next.

What's next for Microsoft and their new additions to Xbox Live? First, Microsoft will most likely fix a few exsisting issues with the new Xbox Live dashboard features such as reported on Joystiq.com and many other gaming news websites. As posted on Joystiq.com, currently the only known issue with the new features is reported by some as problems with Xbox 360's HDMI cables not working properly.

In a recent interview with Shacknews , Mircosoft was quoted by saying "While the vast majority of our users worldwide are enjoying the New Xbox Experience with no problems, we are aware that a handful of Xbox LIVE users are experiencing audio issues, and are diligently monitoring this issue and working towards a solution." For those of us with Xbox 360's, this news isn't good, but at least we get to enjoy the new Xbox Live MarketPlace features via the offical Xbox website.

Now if only they would make it possible for you to down the stuff to your PC, burn it then rip it onto your Xbox. For those of us who do not have Xbox live. It really sucks having to unplug the thing, take it over to a friends how download what you need just to bring it back home and re-set it up. I usually wait until a LAN party, but it's still annoying.
