Xerox 4595 Review

Paul Mann
Normally I start out with stating the price tag of whatever printing I am reviewing. However, Xerox does not list the price of the Xerox 4595 printing. While I have seen around the internet that it is about $30,000-40,000 I cannot confirm that, and the only way to truly know is contacting Xerox before making the purchase. But, even if that is the price tag, the 4595 is worth that and a lot more. With great finishing, paper types and sizes, and amazing features, you will find yourself grateful to have such a powerful printer/copier on your side.

Now, before beginning, there is both a copier and a copier/printing version of this machine. I suggest you go for the better one, as having just a copier seems a burden when you need printing as well.

Let's start out with speed. Usually black and white machines have faster speeds than those which are color and black and white. The 4595 doesn't break that rule, and clocks in at a phenomenal 95 PPM (pages per minute). This will surely keep up, or exceed, with your wildest needs. Even busy commercial printers will find this speed to be well worth the money.

Also, the first page out (as it sounds, the first page to print out) is a scant 3 seconds, so don't expect to be waiting too long for your job to start.

The paper capacity this printer can hold is 13x19.2, but you will mostly be using the standard 8.5x11 or 11x17 sizes.

Standard paper capacity is 4,225 sheets, but it can be upgraded to 8,225. Both of these sizes are good, and even the smaller one should be able to fit your needs. Obviously though, if you need bigger go out and spend the extra money for the upgrade.

All copiers come with a document feeder. It's that piece at the top where you feed in your documents to be copied. Normally printers can hold 50 to 100. The 4595 can hold up to 250 duplexed (double sided) sheets, which is an insane amount. Speaking of duplex, double sided printing comes standard on this model.

Finishing wise it comes with standard options, and one that really impressed me. Stapling, hole-punching, folding, booklet making, saddle stitch, and a post-process inserter which really impressed me. You may be wondering what that is, to explain let me give you a situation.

The 4595 can create booklets by stitching them in the middle. Knowing this, you print out the cover, which is in a pastel blue we'll say. To get the booklet correctly situated with this cover, you will either have to load the printer correctly with this cover between every few sheets, or staple the books by hand.

With this post-process inserter, you just place the paper in a small input feeder, select the option to draw paper from that tray, and viola it will be automatically added as a cover to the book. It takes the page from that tray and adds it either to the back or front, whatever you selected.

There are many other features, such as standard double sided printing, scanning, edge erase for originals with hole punching or poor edges.

If you need a commercial printer, the 4595 is your choice. Great for large business or people looking to make a buck by printing, the 4595 is sure to be admired for its speed and reliability.
