Xerox Phaser 8560 Review

If you're a small business, or trying to break into commercial printing, you definitely want to look at the Phaser 8560. This model combines lightweight size, amazing speeds, great prices, and a load of features that will be useful for any project.

Now, this printer is not for someone looking for a really low end cheap printer that just prints, as the standard model (without any upgrades) is about $800. It's really meant more for businesses with high printing outputs, or people starting an online printing shop who want to perform some in-house printing. If you don't do a lot of printing you should look for a lower end model, because this Phaser is about as close as you can get without the high-end commercial printers Xerox is so known for.

The standard features of the Phaser 8560 is color capacity printing which uses solid ink instead of toner (solid ink gives the high output of toner, while being cheap and leaving an incredibly small footprint on the environment). It's PPM (page per minute) speed is, color and B&W: 30. Most other printers in this category are only around 12-15 PPM at best, so the speeds are vastly improved with this model compared to lower-end Phasers. Also, according to the Xerox web site, you can expect only a five second delay before the first page prints out (again to be comparative, most Phasers take about 20-30 seconds before they begin printing).

Also the paper tray is far extended beyond most Phasers. Others tend to hold around 250 sheets, but the Phaser 8560 holds 625 sheets (up to 1,675 with upgrades). Another feature of the 8560 is its ability to do duplex (double sided) printing. While the standard model does not include this feature, all the other variations of the 8560 include this ability. This can greatly help conserve paper, and allows you to do booklet printing.

Bad points about this model is that it is only a printer. So if you are looking for a fax, copier, and phone all in one you won't find it here. Also, the highest paper size you can print on with this printer is 8.5x14. Most commercial printing machines allow you to use up to 11x17, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

So if you are looking for a small printer with a huge paper capacity, amazing speeds, and great quality which can allow you begin a venture into commercial printing or to complete huge print cycles at work, you should really get this model. It's the gateway between huge commercial printers, with the price of cheaper and smaller models.
