Xilisoft Video Converter is a program designed to simplify the conversion of video files. Xilisoft is very simple to use, and is also one of the fastest video conversion programs available on the market. Another important feature of Xilisoft is the number of file types it supports. Xilisoft supports: DVD, AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MOV, FLV, SWF and others as well. Xilisoft also can convert audio files. Having such a wide choice for file type greatly expands the capabilities of the program.

Converting files with Xilisoft is simple. The first step to convert a file is to install and run Xilisoft. Next simply click "Add" and select the file(s) you wish to convert. Next you must select the output file type you wish to achieve. To do this select the formant under the "Profile" box. This is where you can select the many available formats, including iPod, PSP and other popular device formats. Then select the output location. To select an output location simply click "Browse" under "Destination", the location you chose is where the final video will be saved. Then you are ready to convert your files. To do so simply check the box next to each file you want to convert, and click "Encode". The progress of each file will be show under the Status column, and the files will say "Completed" when they have been completely converted. Changing settings in the conversion is also very simple, all you have to do is select what you wish to change on the right panel, and when the video is converted that setting will change in the video. This can be useful for making movies smaller resolution as well as many other useful opportunities.

If you are very new to video conversion Xilisoft included a conversion Wizard, designed especially for computer novices who need some help with converting their files. The Wizard walks the user through every step of the process to ensure the user gets what the want from the conversion. Using the Wizard is extremely simple, but it is not much slower than normal. The Wizard also makes it easy for users to set everything how they want it to turn out.

Overall Xilisoft Video Converter is a great program. The only drawback to Xilisoft is the price, $35 is a bit pricey for a simple video converter, but if you commonly convert any media type Xilisoft is a program to consider buying. Using Xilisoft couldn't be any easier, and support is always easy to find should anything go wrong.
