XM Radio

For full disclosure, I DO NOT work for XM Radio. I have had XM for over one year in one car, and received a portable radio, the Inno 2, last Christmas. I do pay for radio, that's right, you heard it correctly, I pay for my radio. Actually, my family pays more for the radio service than we do for our cable television. I have not listened to FM or AM radio since getting XM. The main reason, it is entertainment. Here are some examples:

Channel 27 is called CINEMAGIC. Cinemagic lets you experience the movies, right on your radio. They take a movie, play some of the best clips, and then they play part of the score, not the soundtrack, but the score. It actually took me almost a year to find this station, but once I did, that's all that I listened to. My favorite score is from Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the movie with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The score is by John Powell. I listen to it going to work and I get ready for the day. With the Inno 2 I have the ability to record my favorite songs, so I recorded this score and listen to it over and over again.

I am a Fox News listener at home. Now, I can tune to Channel 121 and listen to it anywhere. I love to listen to Shepard Smith and Brit Hume on the way home from work. By the time I get home, I am up to date on the daily occurrences, so that I can spend more quality time with the family.

I am a huge baseball fan. I go to Channel 175 to listen to 24-7 baseball news, and then each game it brought to life on XM. My radio also has a sports tracker so that I can keep an eye on all of the games at once.

When I need a laugh, there are several to choose from. I usually go to Channel 150 for XM Comedy. It has an XL designation that signifies adult material. There are several stations that have this designation; thus this material is not appropriate for children. XM Comedy has stand up comedians from Eddie Murphy to everyone else funny.

Channel 29 is called UPop. This is a great station for work because they play all of the great pop songs that are popular around the world.

The Traffic Channel #222 for Los Angeles is great for 24-7 traffic and weather. They even broadcast delays in flights from around the area. It is very comprehensive and covers three, sometimes four, counties in the LA area.

Lucy, Channel 54, plays all of the songs that were popular back when I was in high school, the Army, and in college. Everything from Sugar Ray to Soundgarden, U2, Third Eye Blind, and Dave Matthews Band.

E News Daily, Channel 162, has everything celebrity on it. It is not broadcasted on the weekends, but I shoot over to it during the breaks of Fox News on the way home from work. Since I filed the criminal hit and run charges against Britney Jean Spears, I feel especially close to her and want to hear what is going on in her life.

XM Pops plays great classical music on Channel 113, and Radio Disney and XM Kids are great for when I have the family in the car.

There are nine country stations, and a station for every decade from the 40's on. There is CNN, CNBC, and Bloomberg radio. Yes, there are plenty of stations that I have not mentioned, nor have listened to.

My travels to and from work have become a lot more pleasant since getting XM Radio. I listen all day at work, and also when I go for a run, or hang out in front of the house with the family. The portable radio was the way to go for me since I can take it anywhere. It also lets me record live radio so that I can hold onto my favorite songs with no additional cost. That has saved me a lot of money from ITunes since I have not payed for a song since getting this service. I encourage everyone to budget a few cents a day to have the same entertainment that I have, XM Radio.
