X-Men Artist Signs on with Orang Utan Comics

Craig Yeung, superstar inker of such Marvel titles as X-Men: First Class and Runaways, has signed on to pencil The Intergalactic Adventures of Slam Ridley for young U.K. publisher Orang Utan Comics Studio.

Artist Simon Wyatt was originally slated to perform the pencil chores for the series, but the team at Orang Utan felt that Wyatt's super detailed fantasy style work would be best suited to another project in production, a medieval/Norse themed series called Valhalla, written by Peter Rogers.

This left the crew at Orang Utan with a huge gaping hole to fill in a project that they had invested months worth of time into developing, which led them to approach Yeung.

"We drew up a wish list of artists which included a lot of very talented people who were all working for the big two publishers. To be honest, we weren't expecting any of them to say yes. Craig was right at the top of the list and we were stunned when he accepted the job." said series creator and Orang Utan co-founder Ian Sharman.

The Intergalactic Adventures of Slam Ridley is billed as a Star Wars meets Firefly intergalactic epic. A gruff intergalactic adventurer, Slam Ridley, battles terrorists and politicians 1000 years in the future with his robotic sidekick, Dan.

Regarding the creative switch-up Sharman stated "While we're sad to see Simon leave the book, and want to publicly acknowledge the huge amount of time and effort he put into helping us develop the world of Slam Ridley, we couldn't be more excited about having Craig on board as the new artist."

Orang Utan Comics Studio began life in 2007, bringing together rising talent from across the World. Since coming together to form the studio OUC creators have worked on titles including Contraband, Starship Troopers and Kong. Their Eagle Award Nominated Anthology "Eleventh Hour" was recently picked up by AAM/Markosia.
