'X-Men: The Last Stand' Birthday Party Ideas

It's almost too easy to have an X-Men birthday party. Of course, if you really want to have fun and have a war that includes a "2 strike" rule, then you really need to have an "X-Men: The Last Stand" party because you get to eliminate any issues about how one super power is better than another. Why? Because when you host the "war," the ammunition is the "secret weapon" from the movie. It eliminates all super powers on contact. Make your own X-Men birthday party using some of the information below.

The War: At the end of "X-Men: The Last Stand," there's a war going on between the humans and Magneto's team. The X-Men are there to protect the humans and to save the boy that holds the key to the cure. Obviously, your children aren't going to have actual super powers and the war may need to be modified a bit unless you have an equal amount of kids who are on Magneto's team and those that are X-Men. Instead of super powers, you'll be using silly string. Each child gets 2 cans of silly string. If they get hit once by silly string, then they have to give up one can because the first hit is going to be considered as "the cure," so they lose their powers. The second hit knocks them out. This is important information to have as you plan the party. The goal of each team is to reach and save the key to the cure, which will be set up at the far end of the area you are hosting the war at. It is suggested that this be done outside or in a basement to allow for ease of play and cleanup.

Invitations: X-Men birthday party invitations are easy to make. Use your favorite word processing program to create invitations. One way to do it is to just put a big "X" on the front of the invitation, then list the details inside. You should include the fact that it's a costume birthday party and that all guests should plan to come as their favorite X-Men. Include the location, date, time, and name of the child the party is for. Indicate that silly string will be used and that parents should plan their wardrobe accordingly.

Decorations: Decorations for this party are going to be pretty simple and will actually be made for use later in the "war" that you'll be having. All you really need is lots of cardboard boxes. Your child can help you draw things like cars and large pieces of metal on them. These will later be used for shields in the war. You will also need a doll or something similar to pose as the key to the cure.

Cake: The cake for an X-Men party is going to be easy to make. You can simply make cupcakes and arrange them in a large "X" or you can buy or make a sheet cake and decorate it with posed X-Men action figures. Using cupcakes also means that you don't have to supply plates and forks!

Entertainment: Since this is an X-Men party, you might want to have the movie "X-Men: The Last Stand" playing in the background to get the kids in the mood.

Games: The biggest game is going to be the war. There are other games you can play before that though! Use an X-Men poster to play a different version of pin the tail on the donkey. Hang up the poster and make small cutouts that look like the gun they use to give the injections or that looks like the injection itself. Use poster tack to stick to the cure. Have children try to get the cure on the body of the X-Men in the poster. You can also play Super Power Charades where children act out and guess various super powers and/or who they belong to.

Don't forget that adults who participate by dressing up and playing the games are going to be promoting fun. Children always love it when adults get out there and have fun with them. Besides, we all know you want to dress up as one of the X-Men yourself!
