X-men Rogue Halloween Costume

How to Make an X-men Rogue Costume

Chad R. Herman
Rogue is a very neat character and it takes a lot of material to create her. A good and true X-men Rogue costume is a seamstress dream. In this description, I'll tell you what you could sew if you wanted to. But let me remind you, you do not have to sew any piece of this costume if you don't want to.

When taken down to its bare essentials, the Rogue costume is pretty easy and straightforward. It really only has a few main pieces, and that's it.

You're going to need a full set of green leotards, a large piece of yellow fabric (preferably the same kind of material as the leotards. If you can get a solid almost body Armour looking material, that would be great as well), a small brown jacket that reaches to just at the middle of your rib cage, just below your breasts. This jacket does not have to be able to close, just be worn and movable in. A pair of knew high or mid-calf high boots the same color as the little jacket, a pair of gloves the same color green as the leotard, a wig if necessary, and white hair dye or makeup.

The first thing to do that will take the longest is the hair. Rogue has very long naturally wavy hairy. There should be a lot of it, and it should be all over the place. Straight hair is OK to, but there should be a lot of straight hair and it needs to be at least down to her mid back if not longer. If you need a wig, get an auburn wig or a straight red headed wig. rogue has naturally reddish brown hair, so you ant to keep with the color of the character. Often times she wears a head band holding her hair off of her forehead only. Rogues signature look has 2 white stripes in her bangs. You can either strip two two inch strips of hair of all color using a hair stripper, and then dying those two strips white. This gets expensive and you're dealing with a lot of chemicals. There's also hair paint, or if you want to go the cheap route use white water based paint. Paint two two inch strips of the bangs that come down and frame her face. This is very important and can not be left out.

Take a large piece of paper and put it on your top torso. You're going to draw an outline of your torso that starts an inch and a half into your torso from where your colar bone attaches itself to the shoulder. Draw a line straight down taking off a small part of your boob. When you get to the waist, diagonally follow your thigh, very much like underwear do. When you get to the inside draw a line down till you get to 6 inches above the knee. Draw a small rectangle that goes up and includes your crotch, but not any of the back of the body. do the same outline on the other side of your body. Place this outline on the large piece of yellow material and trace this outline on the material. Cut out the material as you traced it, and you should have one pieces that fits the entire front of your torso. Turn the piece over and cover it completely with fabric glue. Allow the glue to dry for 10 seconds. Attach the piece to the leotards.

Now it's time to get dressed. Put on the leotard. Put on the gloves and the boots. Put on the little jacket, and you have a complete rogue costume.

Good idea, except for the fact that Rogue's boots are yellow, not tan.
