Xyron Create a Sticker Machine is a Great Craft Item for Under $10

Susan Antonelli
The little Xyron Create a Sticker machine is a wonderful craft item for under $10.00. The machine is a big plastic orange "X" which is awfully cute as a design. It measures around 4" x 3 1/2". The Xyron comes with a roll of sticky paper. You can make stickers from mini die-cuts, mini photos and other items up to 1-1/2" wide. It will apply acid-free uniform adhesive coating on the back of punch art, mini die-cuts, mini photos, and other items up to 1-1/2" wide by just running the item through the Xyron. The Xyron is great for clip art, for use with ribbon when you scrapbook or for making personalized ribbon or stickers for gifts or for making great kids crafts. A child as young as three can participate in using the Xyron with supervision. You can use unusual shapes in this little machine, round, variegated like a snowflake or odd like a baseball bat or leaf.

You can take a child's photo cut it into a round shape put it through the Xyron Create A Sticker machine, cut out a round picture of a soccer, baseball or tennis ball if that's the sport they like for the other side. You could do a favorite cartoon character or another photo of the same child and you can paste these back to back with an 8"long ribbon in the middle of the two stickers. You now have a really personal book mark.

You can copy images from the internet into a Word file. Resize each image so it is slightly less than 1.5 inches wide . I arrange the images in columns, then print. You can cut the printed page into strips individual images. put them into the Xyron 150 machine so that they almost touch . This will keep adhesive waste down.Pull on the tape. You have stickers.Use Paper Shaper punches as well. These are terrific for card making or scrapbooking.

One Christmas I made sticky picture stamps of each child to put on their packages so they would know whose gift was whose just by looking at the sticker pictures of themselves. It turns anything into an acid free permanent removable sticker immediately. The kids get a big kick out of seeing their faces on a sticker.

You can print out pictures on your computer and turn them into stickers. Take the school exchange pictures those little 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" pictures, and turn them into stickers.

I love that this eliminates glue or tape.

Xyron comes in larger sizes for bigger projects. There are the Xyron 500,850 or 1200 machines.

The Xyron Create A Sticker weighs 9 oz so it' s easy to transport. It uses no heat or batteries and can be refilled with permanent or reusable adhesive. The machine puts a uniform coating of adhesive on the object your making into a sticker. The adhesive will be edge to edge. This little machine will turn almost anything into a sticker. It will be acid free. The stickers can be up to 1 1/2" wide. refills run around $4.00 and you can get them at places like Jo Ann's, Michael's or A.C. Moore. Each of these stores offers discount oupons so it's very inexpensive to refill.

The only complaints I have are that I find there is a lot of waste and it's difficult to space your images.

Instructions: If you look closely at the images on the box there is a very small picture of someone inserting a die cut. Face up. There is a 1,2,3 diagram showing this again on the side. There is also a small booklet inside the box that will show you how to change your refill. It's simple. You place your fingers on the cartridge and squeeze. Then remove the cartridge. Reverse this procedure to refill.

The Diagram says:

1. Insert image

2.Pull & tear upward

3. Rub (on the plastic side) & peel

Instructions from the box:

Always make sure your cartridge is installed correctly

Use there right size paper, nothing thicker than 1/16 "

Be sure to rub well around your clear mask

Wipe off any excess adhesive if there is any

If you use the sticker on fabric be sure the fabric has no sizing.

If the items you use on fabric will be washed stitch your fabric sticker down before How does it work? The cartridges hold two parts - a sticky side and a clear plastic side. As you pull an item through the machine the two sides are pressed together, sandwiching your picture to the adhesive under a clear plastic covering. Tear the tape off once your item is out of the machine and rub over the plastic to make sure the adhesive sticks. Now pull the two layers apart and you can peel off your new sticker. Thei tape with the sticker itself can be cut on the see through cutting edge just like you would cut Scotch tape. I do find there is quite a bit of waste since you have to use the edge to pull and this ends up being wasteThis machine is not a laminator so it will not be covered on the non stick side.

All in all this is a terrific item for a crafter, a teacher or for a child.
