Driving home from an appointment, my husband called. The conversation went something like this.
"Hi honey, are you on your way home?"
Me: "Yes, about five more minutes, why, what's up?"
Thinking he was hungry and calling about lunch, he continued.
"We don't have any electricity."
Thinking to my self, he has probably already checked the fuse box, or whatever you call that thing.
"Okay, I'll be there in a minute and we can figure it out."
After checking with a couple of the neighbors, I learned they also were without power. But only one of them had called the electric company.
After the representative from the electric company asked me several questions he commented that no one else had called to report being without electricity.
"The nursing home across the street is without power, in addition to the people on the street behind us." I said.
He continued, "I'm really sorry, but I don't see any other reports. Would you like us to notify you when we locate the problem?
"Sure".
About fifteen minutes later, a truck drove past our house toward the lake. And about five minutes after that we had electricity.
Apparently limbs from a recent storm landed on the line and shorted everything out.
I walked back into the living room to where my hubby sat, resting in his chair.
I sat beside him and said, "so when did you notice the electricity was off."
He smiled and said, "when I woke up the TV was off."
Ya gotta love him!
