Yahoo Answers: Helpful and Fun

I signed up for Yahoo Answers about 2 months ago, just for something to do. In the past 2 months, I learned that I really enjoy helping people, even if it's over the Internet. It's nice to be able to offer my opinion and answers to people who are in need of it. I feel as if I've been through a lot in my last 21 years of life, from surgeries to work experiences, and many of which have been written about on Associated Content. I love to be able to help others, knowing they may be able to help me out in return. Yahoo Answers is a fun, easy way to get help and offer help as well.

First, if you already have an account with Yahoo, then you are automatically eligible to participate in the Answers section. If you don't already have an account, it's very easy to sign up and get started. The main Answers page on Yahoo has a variety of different questions asked by other Yahoo users. A lot of these questions are interesting, and some are just asked for the fun of it, with no meaning behind the question. New questions pop up every time you refresh the page. Also, on the left side of the page, you are able to go to questions in different categories, from Best of Answers all the way down to Yahoo Products. The categories are interesting as well. You are able to read and answer questions about things like pregnancy, sports, animals, medical conditions and much more. If you have been through any of these, then you are probably able to help someone out by answering their question. For example, if a user asks "What are reasons my computer is slow to start up?" and you are a computer pro, you may be able to answer this question. The whole point of Yahoo Answers is to help others. It's also nice because you are also able to ask questions too.

Asking questions is easy. All you need to do is type in what you want to ask, and then hit "Ask". You'll be able to preview your question before you submit it, so don't worry. Once your question has been submitted, other users will be able to view it and answer it if they wish. Beware that some users will not offer good, solid advice, and they will just answer for the heck of it. Weed out those users, and read the real stuff. One of my favorite reasons to use Yahoo Answers is that you can ask the most embarrassing question ever, and your real identity doesn't have to be revealed. Meaning, it's much easier to get the answers you want without being ashamed to ask. You probably wouldn't want to ask such a personal question in public; this is why it's easy for people to ask on Yahoo Answers. Answers from Yahoo Answers aren't a substitution for a doctor's help, but some people's answers could offer you some real advice and help. Think about it: it might be embarrassing to ask "Why do I have a nasty green fungus growing out of toenails?" to one of your friends or even your doctor.

Yahoo Answers has a point system, where you earn points for each question you answer. You lose 2 points for each question you ask, but if you create a good balance between questions and answers, you will have a good earning. Once a question has been answered, the user will then be able to decide who has the "best answer". If your answer has been chosen as the best, then you earn 10 points. The more best answers you have, the more people will appreciate and accept your opinions and help. Don't take it as a joke, try to answer questions to the best of your ability, or just don't answer them at all.

Yahoo Answers is a fun way to help others out, or to get the answers you've always wanted to know. It's a great way to learn about things from other people's experiences. Searching on Google doesn't always give you accurate experiences from real life stuff, like wisdom teeth surgery or working at a certain restaurant. Next time you have a question, give Yahoo Answers a try.
