Yahoo Set to Lay Off 700 Employees: How Will Yahoo Lay Offs Affect Yahoo Itself and Associated Content from Yahoo

Yahoo Set to Lay Off Employees at Worst Time of the Year, Christmas

Jennifer Moore
Yahoo is planning to lay off 700 employees Tuesday December 14, 2010. There are going to be some people hurting just before Christmas. What will this mean for the families of Yahoo workers?

According to the Wall Street Journal reporter Kara Swisher that is 5% of 14,000 workers that Yahoo employee. Kara Swisher also stated that the cuts would mostly come from the product division. The layoffs should be complete by the afternoon.

The layoff from Yahoo is going to affect these families at the worst time of year, Christmas! Is the CEO Carol Bartz to blame for the layoffs at Yahoo? Maybe she was not qualified to do the job Yahoo required because she came from Autodesk. A CAD/CAM software business that only sold to engineers to build things. There is a huge difference between Autodesk and Yahoo, so this leads many to wonder if she knew how to run Yahoo. This would be like hiring a zookeeper to do surgery on the human heart. It is not going to work out for everyone intended.

It is almost as if Yahoo does not realize that its employees will be hurting by the layoffs just before Christmas. Instead of laying off employees at Yahoo, they should try to cut back in other areas of their business in order to keep their employees. I certainly hope Yahoo gives these 700 employees compensation; after all, the employees did not ask to be laid off from Yahoo.

Rumor has it that some Yahoo mail and Yahoo chat users were having trouble signing into their accounts. Many wonder if this is due to layoffs from Yahoo.

Yahoo recently purchased Associated Content and is now known to many as Associated Content from Yahoo. This is a writers place to voice opinions, news articles, slide shows, entertainment news and just about anything, you need great information on. Is the layoff going to affect the writers? Guess they will have to wait and see if they suffer set backs from the layoffs at Yahoo.
