The Yankees faced the Twins in game 2 Friday night of the 2009 ALDS and the game was full of excitement including clutch home runs, bad calls, and extra innings. Alex Rodriguez who has previously been mired in a career worse slump has come out of his shell and led the Yankees to a win with 2 clutch hits to tie the game. Rodriguez went 2 for 4 with a home run and has racked up 3 RBIs all in pressure situations. This brings Rodriguez' post season totals to 5 RBIs, with 1 Home run. The previous three postseasons A-Rod was batting a miserable .159, and had just one total RBI. This has led Rodriguez to be questioned by fans and the media alike throughout New York City, tonight he answered those questions.

Not to be forgotten in Friday's game has to be the walk off home run by Mark Teixiera in the bottom of the 12th. Up until the 6th inning the game tended to be fairly boring. But A-Rod's single in the 6th gave the Yankees a tie. A-Rod again came through with a 2 run homer in the 9th.

In the 11th inning with Joe Mauer was leading off when outfield umpire Phil Cuzzy missed a call on a line drive that would have put the Twins in position to go ahead in the game. Cuzzy called the hit foul. If called correctly this would have left Mauer on 2nd base with no outs. The next player up singled and would have allowed Mauer to be the go ahead run. Manager Ron Gardenhire was definitely agitated with his post game comments and rightly so, "I think it was clear that the foul ball was fair by a long ways." This win by the Yankees gave them a 2 games to none lead and allows them to improve to 9-0 against the Twins this season as the series moves back to Minnesota for games 3 and 4 if necessary.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi passed around the praise and most noticeably was given to Alex Rodriguez whom he described as "being in a very good place". As the Minnesota twins head home the question has to be asked are the Twins finished. Game three probable starters Andy Pettitte and Carl Pavano would like to both have something to say about the ending of this series. Minnesota fans will have to show up in full force to match the intensity of the Yankee fans Friday night at Yankee stadium.
