Yankees Win World Series 2009 with Lopsided Game 6 Score

Robert Dougherty
The Yankees won the World Series 2009 thanks to the World Series 2009 Game 6 score. The Yankees winning World Series 2009 was inevitable in many ways, but the World Series 2009 Game 6 score destroyed all doubt. The Yankees went eight years having not won the World Series, and if the wait didn't end after World Series 2009 Game 6, Joe Girardi would have been run out of town. But the World Series 2009 Game 6 score was controlled by Hideki Matsui, as he singlehandedly made the Yankees win World Series 2009 last night.

The World Series 2009 Game 6 score that made the Yankees win the World Series was 7-3 over the Phillies. More accurately, the Game 6 score was Hideki Matsui 6, Phillies 3. Three straight two-run hits gave Matsui a record-tying six RBIs in one World Series game, and was all the Yankees really needed.

The Yankees won the World Series 2009 by catching Pedro Martinez at his weakest. Martinez could barely throw a good fastball, and Matsui had already torched him for a home run in Game 2. So Matsui did it again in the second inning, then got the clinching two-run single in the third. Charlie Manuel left Martinez in with the bases loaded and two out in the third and paid for it, and the Phillies notorious resiliency never showed itself.

The World Series 2009 Game 6 score did not give the Phillies any breaks. Andy Pettitte wasn't that strong on three days' rest, throwing many balls. But almost every time the Phillies made contact with the ball, it was a weak hit. The Phillies got base runners in every inning, but meekly left most of them on, unlike Matsui.

Since the Yankees went on to win World Series 2009, the Bronx is now off of Joe Girardi and Alex Rodriguez's backs forever - at least until the next time they don't win a title. The World Series 2009 Game 6 score was a letdown, however, after five tight games. The Fall Classic went to a Game 6 for the first time in years, and it was a lopsided, anticlimactic affair, except for the Yankees.

With the Yankees winning the World Series 2009 at last, there will be talk of a new Yankee dynasty, though their core isn't getting younger, and Matsui and Johnny Damon are free agents. For the Phillies, they have to overcome this disappointment to make another run next year, though the last several World Series losers have fallen apart a year later.

The World Series 2009 Game 6 score finally ended the baseball season in early November. For only one team, that is a relief - and that one team, as it has been for 26 other years, is the New York Yankees.
