Year Round Color in Your Garden with Bromeliads

Softdiamond
More and more plant lovers are becoming interested of collecting Bromeliad Plants. After long years of cultivating, these plants have become popular as indoor plants or for garden landscapings. Bromeliads, in their natural habitat can surprisingly survive a long period of drought. The general rule of thumb for watering based from my readings is: water well and allow to dry before watering again.

The most common genus of bromeliads are Aechmea, Neoregelia, and Billbergia.

Blanchetiana, Little Harv and Chantinii fall under Genus Aechmea. These bromeliads is great for mounting in trees and blooms long under the sun. They are known to appear in colors ranging from soft greens and reds to spiky purples and blacks.

Genus Neoregelia varieties are Correia-Araujoi, Full Sun Hybrid #1, Full sun Hybrid #2, Johannis, Lamberts Pride, Orange Crush, Rafael, Rivera, Sheba, Tangerine, Yang, Yin and Zoe. These varieties of Neoregelia or "Neo's" are the most diverse when it comes to foliage. They are of wide variety of shapes, colors, sizes and patterns that inspire one's mind to expand his landscaping imagination. Neo's had become the most favorite of landscapers and cllectors because they are easy to maintain and always impress.

Hallelujah falls under Genus Billbergia. Halleluhajs are beautiful bromeliads but usually blooms in a short period of time and appears to have a tubular style.

Anyway, there is a beautiful destination in the Philippines where one could find a vast collection of Bromeliads. Situated in the Island of Guimaras, the place called Venus Pittman's Garden had given me the opportunity to appreciate much the beauty of this plant.
