Years Ago

Years ago, being young,
Living our teenage years,
As one,
He and i,
dreams realized, yet to come.

Years ago, burdened by youth,
my love,
a baby,
still, many dreams realized yet to come.

Years later, a lifetime older,
a husband, 3 babies,
and a teenagers broken heart,
still, many dreams realized yet to come.

Years later, older still,
a hand full of life's hard lessons and a heart full of dying dreams,
Yesterday, living in the past,
unrealized dreams,
starry eyed ambitions,
17, believing the world held promise,
But now knows the future holds,
Nothing.

Today, here and now,
Years older, much wiser,
Wondering,
Is it possible,
to live,
a life of promise,
to dream,
the dreams of long ago,
And hope,
After all this time.
