Yesterday Can Be Redeemed

Recovery from the Mistakes of the Past

Rita Hanks
A short lesson in life and an appeal to turn the regrets and guilts of past sins into joy and abundant life in Jesus Christ. The innocence of youth passes very quickly and the consequences of our disobedience to God will affect our quality of life as we move into the latter years.

Ecclesiastes 12:1
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

Ecclesiastes 11:9
Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: ...but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
...

Sin will take us places we never meant to go and cost us more than we were ever willing to pay. The law of life is that a man will reap what is sown. Hear a song of lamentation of one who has late in life discovered that there is a hard price to pay for a self centered life.

There is a solution in Christ. I am sent to proclaim the good news! Yesterday can be redeemed and joy and innocence can be restored! The life destroyed can be renewed through the surrender of the whole heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. When a man turns away from self-centeredness toward repentance and a new life all the regrets and hurts of the past are cast into God's river of forgetfulness.

The promise of God to the repentant:

Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Psalm 30:11
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
