Both my kids went to the daycare program at our local YMCA in Burlington County in Southern New Jersey. In fact, my four year old is still there. Lucky for us, I just happened on the program. I was looking for something to do with my first child, my daughter, when I found "mommy and me" classes at the local YMCA. I was thrilled to be able to get my child, who was 6 months at the time, out of the house amongst other children. And it was also a good idea for me. I got to meet other moms too and have conversations with adults rather than random babbling with a baby!
After a couple of years, and feeling established at the YMCA, I finally inquired about the daycare program and enrolled my daughter in the Fall when she was two years old. It was the best thing I ever did, and it was good for both of us. I was not working at the time, but having a couple of hours (I only sent her half days) to myself was beneficial mentally and physically.
The schedule is very structured, especially the first part of the day. There are crafts and books and circle times and play times (indoor and/or outdoor), snack times, computer times etc...The teachers are very organized and creative, and both my kids loved each and every caretaker they had.
(I happened to be offered a job, not in the daycare, but to help instruct preschool gym classes for members which I took after the fact.)
