Yo Bubble: Bubble Tea and Fro-Yo Cafe in Urbana, Maryland

Yo Bubble, a bubble tea and frozen yogurt cafe, opened January 3, 2011 in Urbana, Maryland. Right at home amongst the surge of new development in the rural town, Yo Bubble offers modern Asian-inspired décor and a vast array of flavors for fro-yo and bubble tea enthusiasts to enjoy.

Location and Atmosphere

Nestled in the Urbana Village Center strip mall on Worthington Boulevard in the center of Urbana, Yo Bubble caters to the health conscious and young at heart. Customers who wander in are immediately greeted with lime green and yellow walls, bubble chair stools, spacious yellow and white booths, clear wall-mounted menus, and dangling bubble lights. If the colorful atmosphere doesn't invigorate your spirits, just wait till you try their bubble tea.

The Bubble Tea

**If you are brand new to bubble tea I'll preface with this short description of the experience: you'll receive a cup filled with ice, the tea of your choice, little "bubble" shaped bits of fruit at the bottom, and a slurpy style straw with a scooper on one end and a standard straw tip on the other end so you can scoop up the bubbles once the tea is gone.

The tea itself is varied in options, including but not limited to green and white, with or without bubbles, and with a number of flavor options. My first Yo Bubble tea experience was a small green tea with bubbles in passion fruit flavor. The small size was actually about the size of a large in some other establishments which I was glad about due to the amount of ice used and the passion fruit added a nice bit of tart flavoring to the mellow green tea. A good flavor option if you prefer a sweeter taste would be Lychee. A small Yo Bubble bubble tea runs around $2.50, a great price considering a less healthy frappucino or latte can cost up to $4.50 a pop.

The Frozen Yogurt

I did not try the frozen yogurt on my first visit but definitely plan to go back for a taste. If you are a fro-yo lover this is the place for you. Yo Bubble offers more frozen yogurt flavors than you can count and provides easy self-serve access from their wall dispensers.

A Great Family Place

Kids and Adults alike will enjoy the warm friendly service and futuristic feel of Yo Bubble, but be sure that very young children do not try the bubble tea and keep close supervision on older children who do t because the bubbles can be a choking hazard.
