Yo Gabba Gabba Boom Box Theatre Review

Jendayi
Yo Gabba Gabba a kid's television show produced by two ordinary dads is becoming very popular with the kids. Muno, one of the extraordinary looking characters from Yo Gabba Gabba has even been featured in the Kia Sorento super bowl XLIV commercial, alongside the famous sock monkey, earning him a spot of interest in parent's minds. The success of the show has called for the production of Yo Gabba Gabba themed toys. One popular toy is the Yo Gabba Gabba Boom Box Theatre.

The Yo Gabba Gabba Boom Box Theatre is a toy made for children 18 months and up. To fully understand the concept of the toy you'd have to be slightly familiar with the show. However, you do not have to be familiar with the show to enjoy the toy. The Yo Gabba Gabba Boom Box Theatre is a plastic replica of the boom box that DJ Lance Rock carries in the beginning of every show. The boom box plays 4 songs from the show; "What is Fun?" "I like to Dance," The Yo Gabba Gabba theme song and "Jumpy Jump Jump." The boom box connects with ipods and mp3 players to play music externally. The audio connector cable is not included.

Design

The boom box is very similar to the one on the show. Four of the Yo Gabba Gabba characters from the show; Muno, Brobee, Foofa, and Toodee are fixed to the top portion of the boom box. They are not removable. There are two round speakers located on the front of the boom box, they are positioned on the left and right sides. These speakers are just for design purposes, the music does not come from out of them. The music comes from a speaker located on the back of the boom box. 8 colorful buttons lay in the boom box's center. There are four buttons on the top and four on the bottom. The four buttons on the bottom light up and the four on the top are covered with stickers that look like colorful piano keys. The buttons that are covered with stickers can be pressed down to play music. The boom box also opens up (just like the one DJ Lance Rock carries) to reveal cardboard images of the Yo Gabba Gabba characters; Foofa, Muno, Brobee, and Toodee.

Review- The Yo Gabba Gabba Boom Box Theatre is a very fun toy. The design is true to the show, so children will be able to reenact their favorite Yo Gabba Gabba episodes. The toy is also lightweight making lugging it around hassle free. The outstanding quality of this boombox is that the sound quality is great. The music does not come out of the speaker muffled it comes out very loud and clear. What is also great about this product is that the music can be played in two different modes; the demo mode and the regular mode. The demo "try me" mode will allow you to sample the song for about 6 seconds while the regular mode will allow you to play the full length of the song. The boom box is also enjoyable to look at because when the music plays the lights on the boom box flash in rhythm with the characters' singing voices.

Pros- The boom box is light weight, it has great sound quality, and is similar to the one that DJ Lance Rock carries. The design and flashing lights are pleasing to look at. The toy is suitable for children as young as 18 months. The boom box can be connected to ipods and mp3 players with an audio connector cable.

Cons- There is no volume control on the product. The four plastic figurines on the top of the radio do not come off.

The Yo Gabba Gabba Boom Box Theatre retails at $17.99 and can be purchased on Amazon and Ebay. Overall, this is a great product that is safe for children aged 18 months and up. It is fun and easy to use with no assembly required. Batteries are included with the toy. I would give this product a 5 out of 5 rating.
