A new trend in exercise has been taking form around Camp Bowie on Fort Worth's west side. Yoga studios are now becoming a frequent spot for those who want to make life transformations. Both gyms and individual owners are in competition for their crowds and clients. I have been trying it out myself lately. In my perspective, yoga can bring strength training and relaxation into sync with your mind and body connection. I feel like I have a good muscular burn happening as I am learning balance and coordination. Here's my comparison of these three places to take in a yoga class.

Indigo Yoga
4812 Camp Bowie
(817) 735- 9642

Indigo Yoga was opened in May 2006 by Brook Hinkle. I guess she's the one bringing the craze to Camp Bowie Blvd., as few others follow along. Her system of poses was developed as the Baptiste Power Vinyasa. Vinyasa means breathe. The aim of hard breathe focus is to bring about sweat, and is often performed in a heated room. This system is composed of 72 poses. This focus of studies has taken Ms. Hinkle many long years to complete the 500 hours and more of training certificate through this instructor. Currently her studio is being remodeled to expand more space for classes. Throughout the year various events and workshops are offered to make her studio more of a community center for yoga enthusiasts. The cost to take a class and drop in is $17, for $125 a month membership is offered.

Pilates Concept
6320 Camp Bowie Blvd.
(817) 737-2673

Pilates Concept is operated by Janelle Perry, who I have taken a class from. She not only volunteers her assistance to local charities to help other learn, she also has a staff available to help you. Her smaller studio is perfect for individual instruction or small groups. The concept of Pilates here is incorporated into pulleys and stretch rollers on mats to achieve more. Normal session fee is $25 - 65.

24 Hour Fitness
2701 Holloran
(682) 233-9337

Yoga classes are offered here almost every day of the week. Members can attend as many classes as they like. Beginners, intermediate, and finally Pilates are taught here. This is my favorite place to take yoga. I enjoy the Pilates which introduce any person into basic poses and focus the total body use of an aerobic exercise. Member's costs vary, but do not involve any contract. Please contact for more information.
