Yogic Treatment for the Abdominal Disorders

Taru Mehta
Lots of people suffer from abdominal disorders like constipation, wind formation, indigestion, dysentery, acidity, stomach ache, and various forms of gastrointestinal disorders. The basic causes of such abdominal disorders can be psychosomatic factors like mental stress and strain, nervousness and the anxieties, and the improper food habits. Such disorders can be easily cured through yogic treatment within the period of around three months without any allopathic medicines having the damaging side effects. I am myself a yoga instructor and have cured many such cases of abdominal disorders through pranayama techniques as explained here below.

The procedure of performing the pranayama to cure abdominal disorders is quiet simple. Sit down on the floor in lotus pose or the sukhasana with your spine, neck, and the head fully erect and with your both hands on the respective knees with the thumbs touching your index finger. Look straight at your eyes level concentrating in to your inner soul. Start exhaling slowly through both the nostrils pulling your stomach and abdominal muscles inside. Keep exhaling till your lungs are completely empty. After completing the exhalation, hold for a second or two and start inhaling through both the nostrils. Inhale as deeply as you can by stretching out your abdominal muscles. The expansion of the stomach area must be gradual and rhythmic, and not abrupt and sudden. After inhaling deeply, again pause for a second and then, start exhaling again. Repeat this entire process of exhalation/inhalation for ten to fifteen times per sitting. During the first week of practice, do this exercise only for ten times. After second week onwards, increase it to fifteen times per day per sitting. Never perform this breathing exercise more than fifteen times in a day.

There are some factors that also must be followed closely in order to derive optimum benefits. It is essential to keep your spine straight while performing the pranayama. The head, neck, and the spine must remain in one straight line all through out the pranayama. After the exercise is over, maintain same sitting position for around thirty seconds with normal breathing. Then gradually relax completely and switch over to other exercises as per your normal routine. This pranayama technique activates all the digestive system organs, which help in curing of abdominal disorders. This pranayama technique also affects various glands of your endocrine system. The adrenal, pancreas, ovary in females, and the testicles in males are specifically activated and energized. Due to this, the secretion generation of hormones in all the glands of the abdominal area increase, which can cure all the abdominal disorders. This pranayama also improves the blood circulation and the respiratory systems. This is very simple and easy pranayama to perform and do not cause any harmful side effects.

Some of the yogasanas like Uttanpada asan, Pawanmukta asan, and Bhujanga asan also help in curing such abdominal disorders. The procedure of performing these asanas can be learnt from any standard yoga books. The pranayama and the yoga asanas as explained here must be performed on regular daily basis in the early morning hours with empty stomach to derive maximum benefits to cure all such disorders. I have myself cured many such patients using this simple yogic treatment within a maximum period of around three months.

I would request all my readers and friends to start practicing this technique at the earliest to get completely cured from abdominal disorders. If any of my readers have any doubts on this, they all are free to contact me.
