Being a big fan of packaged snack cakes, I'm glad to see that a new brand of cakes is being stocked and sold at my neighborhood Walgreens Pharmacy. The brand of cakes that I am referring to YoGo Greek Yogurt Cakes. So far, I have eaten the YoGo Blueberry Greek Yogurt Cake and the YoGo Tuxedo Greek Yogurt Cake and have enjoyed eating each variety.
Very recently, I reviewed the blueberry cake and I think that the tuxedo cake would be a good product to review. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines the YoGo Tuxedo Greek Yogurt Cake.
Size
The net weight of the two pack of YoGo Tuxedo Cake is six ounces (170 grams). According to the product's nutrition facts label, the package holds four 1/2 cake servings.
When I tried a package of these cakes a few nights ago, one half of a cake was certainly not enough to satisfy my appetite and sweet tooth. The cakes taste so good, I ended up eating three half cakes.
In physical size, the package is pretty big, it measures roughly 9" x 4.5". Each round cake is roughly 3" across in size.
Price
So far, the only store where I have seen YoGo Tuxedo Cakes stocked and sold is at the Walgreens Pharmacy located near my apartment. The regular retail price charged for one six ounce two pack of these cakes there is approximately $1.59. This price seems very reasonable to me.
Texture / Consistency
These Greek yogurt cakes maintain a very appealing texture. They are basically nice and soft and are fairly moist. It's only a guess, but maybe the yogurt in the cakes helps to keep them moist.
Interspersed throughout the cakes are some pretty good-sized chocolate chips, which add another dimension of texture. The overall mouth feel offered by YoGo Tuxedo Cakes is quite satisfying.
Nutritional Facts
YoGo Tuxedo Cakes contain 170 calories, with 50 calories from fat, per 1/2 cake serving. These cakes also contain 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 6 grams total fat, 15 mg of cholesterol, 190 mg of sodium, 27 grams total carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 17 grams of sugars and 5 grams of protein, per 1/2 cake serving.
Taste / Flavor
On a regular basis, I purchase and eat many different brands and types of snack cakes. It's nice to discover a new type of snack cake that is not only delicious, but also nicely textured and reasonably priced.
Half of the YoGo Tuxedo Cake is a tasty yellow cake and the other half is an equally tasty chocolate cake. The chocolate chips that dot the cake are quite chocolatey and in my opinion, the cake could use a few more of them.
Packaging
YoGo Tuxedo Cakes are packaged in a fairly large, beigeish plastic wrapper. The front label features a large oval see through window as well as an illustration of one of the cakes and the rear label lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information.
Overall Rating
These yogurt cakes are a welcome addition to the field of snack cakes and packaged sweet treats. Their appearance is pretty unique and they taste very good. If you happen to see these cakes at Walgreens or another store, I highly recommend that you give them a try.
