I came across the treatment when I was in my late teens. The use of yogurt as a treatment for acne was briefly mentioned in a small article in a women's magazine of that era. It was more or less ignored and the pharmaceutical products were pushed on the reader. At that time my mother had bought me everything on the market to try and alleviate my very serious acne problem I thought yogurt might be worth a try. Since my acne covered most of my face and I was to the point of having some very bad scars from it, I was game to try something new.
I got a small container of plain yogurt to see if it would work. That night, right before I went to bed, I washed and dried my face and got a teaspoon full of yogurt. I dapped my fingers with the yogurt and spread the yogurt all over my face like a face cream. I worked it in my skin until most of it was absorbed. I waited until it was dry and went to bed. The next morning I washed off the residue and went to school. I did not put anything else on my face. The next night I repeated the process. The only thing that felt different about my skin is that it felt tighter.
Within a few days I started to notice a difference. The acne was disappearing and new breakouts were not occurring. It took about a week for all of the pimples to disappear and within another 3 weeks the scars had all but disappeared. I found out that after the first few weeks of daily treatment I did not have to apply the yogurt to my face each night. I then only used the yogurt treatment when I saw a breakout was about to take place. I survived my teenage acne years without having any permanent facial scars from the acne.
When my teenaged daughter started to experience the horrors of acne I immediately went out and bought a small tub of plain yogurt for her. She has used the yogurt treatment about 10 times over the course of the past few years and her friends are amazed that she has such nice skin. She told me that her friends are unaware that she has acne since the yogurt has worked for her so well.
As to the reason why the yogurt is supposed to work, it was said to correct the ph balance of the skin after it is washed. I cannot prove that but I do know it does work.

Post a Commentwow this sounds great!! i went and get some this evening since i have spent thousands of dollars in acne and dermatologists and nothing seems to work. Im 33 and never had acne it just started a year ago. I hope the yogurt works for me since i have adult acne.
omg, so so so sorry for the bad grammar! (Last thing I want them to remember by is)**
I just decided to start doing it tonight. I am 17 and I have had severe acne since 14. When I say severe, I don't mean 4 or 5 little red bumps. I mean like 50. It is so bad that it rare to see a clear spot on my skin. I really hope this works, as my sister is getting married and Im meeting her husbands family. Last thing I want it them to remember me as is 'our new relative with a red bumpy face' Im sure you can imagine. =/ Thanks for the article. I hope I won't get my hopes crushed..... for the tenth time.
I think that i might try this tonight. My mother has been talking about it for a while now. I recently visited my GP and he gave me a tetracycline for my acne, but one of the side effects is that it makes me more sensitive to the sun, too much exposure will result in a rash. i don't want to stay on the medication for too long so hopefully the yogurt will help with my acne and acne scars.
This works. I have been using yogurt as a moisturizer cream before bed in in a week, my active acne went away 90% and my acne scars are fading. Thank you for this great article. Yogurt will always be my staple.
that's so funny- i had just heard that the bacteria in yogurt kills a yeast infection so I decided to add some to my face...thought I was crazy so I googled it...it's working downstairs..so maybe it'll work for my face too!

I just buy the plain unflavored store brand yogurt, since I have no intention on eating it.
Hello! What kind of yougurt brand did you use?Is Activia/Danone a good choice?
I actually have just started using yogurt on my face and have noticed a significant difference in my skin. The acne on my face has cleared and I have totally stopped using all other beauty products.
