Well I finally found something that might be worth trying out. I mean come on, yogurt is cheap, you can always find coupons for yogurt in the Sunday paper, and at least one brand is almost always on sale! In fact I just went to the store and bought 10 6 oz containers of LIGHT yogurt (90 calories a container), and they were only $0.50 a container, so I spent $5.00 on yogurt!
But from what I've read yogurt will help you burn more fat and it promotes a larger weight loss, than those that do not consume 3 6 oz servings of fat free yogurt daily.
Not only will I get more calcium than I have been getting the last month or so, but I'm hoping I start losing weight and tone up my tummy area, since I just had a baby one month ago!
The article said something to this effect .. Researchers found that obese adults who ate three servings of fat-free yogurt a day as part of a reduced-calorie diet lost 22% more weight and 61% more body fat than those who simply cut calories and didn't bone up on calcium. Yogurt eaters also lost 81% more fat in the stomach area than non-yogurt eaters. The article also stated that the average weight loss was 14 pounds -- they were about twice as effective at maintaining lean muscle mass. (Found at WebMD.com)
Well being that I'm already watching what I eat and drink, and workout at least 1 hour a day Monday through Friday, then I should be able to lose weight rather nicely over the next few weeks. But my only problem is once I hit a plateau, that I will have a harder time with my weight loss and that I won't reach my ultimate weight loss goal of 43 or 47 lbs (depending on which scale I go by).
So if you are looking for an easy to maintain "diet" then this might be something for you to try out. It's easy to take to work with you, yogurt tastes good, its a great source of calcium, and it can boost your fat burning abilities. How awesome is that? I think its pretty cool, myself. So run to the store and try it out for yourself. What do you have to lose? A few pounds (if it works)! or just a few bucks (if it doesn't work)!
