You Are.

Beautiful eyes shining like sapphire skies

You have the grace of a swan when it flies

Skin as soft and warm as sand on an undisturbed beach

What secrets are you holding on to? What paradise are you trying to reach?

I visit your apartment for dinner and there I behold

a feeling of solitude and stories untold.

We sit at the table and I can't help but look

at those eyes which pierce me like a hook.

While you are telling me of your travels to far off places,

I realize I've never seen such a pretty face among pretty faces.

You've been to Egypt, France, England, and Peru.

I must say I've never met anyone more exotic than you.

Even though you seem calm as you talk of your adventures,

I can't help but feel that there are some lurking tremors.

As I sip my wine, I look around at the walls.

Behold, not on one wall does a picture call.

I've known you for a month and you still haven't told me

about your mother, father, and the rest of your family.

When I asked about them you didn't even look at me

when you said, "I don't care because they didn't love me."

Three months go by and I still have my suspicions.

There are things you're not telling me, why is this?

One morning I pick up the phone and give you a call and

the phone keeps on ringing off the wall.

I get in my car and drive to your home.

I've been calling for two days, why aren't you answering the phone?

I walk up to the door and knock several times.

Then an old lady walks up to me and says, "Sorry, here no one resides."

Days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months.

It's clear you're long gone, you and your good looks.

As time goes on I begin to accept

that all you were was a pretty face, nothing more and nothing less.
