What is wrong with the one in Kuala Lumpur; looks too British colonial era perhaps or maybe just too plain shabby? Well, anyway, now it's more old buildings to be put on the Malaysian museum archive list. Perhaps the former Malaysian prime minister, Datuk Seri Mahathir Muhammad had thought too far into the future, thinking that the vast unused space between KL, Putrajaya, KLIA, & Cyberjaya will fill up fast to make Kuala Lumpur an advanced cosmopolitan city. Nonetheless, for his sake, it was probably perceived as best to have it done during his rule as Prime minister. Anyway, his mark has been made & he will be remembered for the massive development projects, most definitely!
The Putrajaya development in Malaysia to house the new government center is attractive. Everything in Putrajaya is new, including the Cobra Head Curved Street Lights. It looks uniquely designed & very different than any other street lights seen in Kuala Lumpur or the entire Malaysia as well! The new street lights accentuate the length of the main road heading into Putrajaya. In Putrajaya, the main road is wide, looking to accommodate three lanes of cars on each side. It reminds me of being in Beijing. There are new buildings on both sides of the road, mostly government department buildings. Do try to stop by in Putrajaya to visit the new seat of Malaysian power. The entire development is well designed to look world standard. You will feel like you are in another country when in Putrajaya as the township was built to be the most advanced in Malaysia.
New high tech buildings on both sides of the wide road & cobra curved street lights are everywhere. The onion shaped domes usually belong to the government buildings. Malaysia is an Islamic country hence the architecture is designed to resemble many elements found in Islamic architecture like the onion shaped domes & large spanning arches. You may find it like I do, to view the prevalent contrast between the blend of high tech architecture & Islamic architecture in Putrajaya. One thing is for sure, the Islamic architectural elements have succeeded in making the government buildings look grand & monumental. The high tech architecture in Putrajaya has also succeeded in providing a futuristic outlook for Putrajaya. Combined, both Islamic architecture & high tech architecture in Putrajaya represents Malaysia's desire & goal for a unique, developed nation by 2020. Do visit Putrajaya while on holiday in Malaysia or Kuala Lumpur. There are many beautiful places to see, splendid for taking photographs!
Located on the shores of the Putrajaya Lake is the Putrajaya Mosque. The name Putra Jaya literally means the Successful Prince in the English language. Construction of the mosque began in 1997 & was completed two years later. Nearby the grand mosque is the Perdana Putra which houses the Malaysian Prime Minister's office. The Malaysian government officials who practice the religion of Islam attend prayers at the mosque whenever they like & especially on Fridays. Its location by the lake side enhances its beauty & the tall minaret could also be used to light up parts of the lake although it is uncertain whether the function is implemented on the minaret at present. Built in Turkish & Morroccan style of Islamic architecture, the Putrajaya Mosque stands gleefully by the Putrajaya lakeside, testament to the main religion of Malaysia. It is a pretty sight not to be missed while in Putrajaya!
