You Can Get Everything Except What You Actually Want : My Pet Peeves
Why is it Impossible to Get the Cordless Phone Setup that You Want
I thought it was time to look for a new home phone, since yet again we forgot to take it upstairs into our office last night to put it on charge, and so this morning it's dead again. The battery barely lasts 2 days unfortunately.
What we really want is an additional base that we can plug in downstairs, so that the phone can be charged without having to remember to take it upstairs.
The additional bases don't have to be plugged into the phone system, they merely charge the phone battery, the phone still takes it's signals from the main base unit which is upstairs.
But can I get one like this?
I have searched high and low on the internet, but all I can find is phone systems with additional handsets and bases, but not just a base on its own.
A few years ago, before everyone had cell phones, it was common for people to add more handsets in the home, so that most rooms could have one, and in a large house you could transfer the call between handsets, so for example if there was a call for one of the kids, they could take it in their bedroom.
You could also have multiple people listening in on an important call, but now most phones have speakerphone capability, and most people have cell phones anyhow, or use the internet to communicate, so the need for all these handsets in the home has rather diminished.
However, the need to be able to plug a handset into a charger remains, and I am sure that we are not alone in wanting to avoid having to remember to carry the phone upstairs with us when we go to bed.
We also can't afford to spend money on a 2 handset system when we only need one, so I guess I will have to continue to suffer from DBS (Dead Battery Syndrome), and to keep on searching.
So do you have the same problem or similar with your home phone?
If so, I would love to hear about your pet peeves.

Post a CommentPeople have gone insanely crazy for add-ons, haven't they?
Nothing is the way you specifically want it these days. It seems the more options you get the further away from helpful it becomes.
I know what you mean, Tony. This can be frustrating. I hope you find what you are looking for.

We've just bought several different phones trying to find one that was functional for us. I hate phones!
You are SO right about this. Another problem is that they are not interchangeable between brands/systems. I won't even start on my cell phone coverage...or lack thereof...
I so hear you Tony!
hugs. Good article :)
I have so many pet peeves. Although I cannot figure out that website you told me about Tony
Maybe you can find a used charger on ebay or something
We have some pretty cheap cordless phones with two handsets in the States, but I've never heard of one with two bases and only one handset. Hope you find one!
