You Give More Than You Know

At first glance upon a beauty so fine,
whose words would not be "I will make her mine"?,
the warmth of affection, paralleled by none,
a thousand kisses and my heart you have won,

Your care and devotion are all I desired,
what can be done?, what must transpire?
for you, I wonder, what would a gift be?,
like Penelope and Beatrice, immortalized in poetry,

Is it more to know I will always be there?,
hanging on every word, attempting to supply every care,
decisions are not easy, second-guesses prevail,
but in times like these, surely you can tell,

With a look on your face and a loving embrace,
you give more than you know, nothing could ever replace,
just a glance and a smile, twice a week, half past nine,
dazzles my senses and leaves me blind,

Do I enjoy more to give admiration or receive?,
just making you happy is all I will ever need,
if it is truth you seek, then shall your heart light the way,
to think of it all, please don't let it slip away,

Display your desires not briefly, over an eternity instead,
your presence will either bring me to life, or of pleasure make me dead,
the music of your voice, the stars in your eyes,
I can't think of anything other than Dante's Paradise,

When you are near, only happiness, ardor, enjoyment exist,
I cannot imagine having gone through life and missed,
by stating the obvious and calling you sublimity,
please don't pull away my gift, you, from divinity,

Signs from God will always help your decisions,
but never forget the ones you envision,
sometimes the things you thought were to be,
will never compare to those still to see,

Sometimes we feel we will never settle down,
it takes so long just to land on solid ground,
but home is not built, not somewhere we stay,
it is that warm place in our heart at the end of each day,

Religion teaches it is not good to be alone,
so sad that it is sometimes too well-known,
we aid each other in making things right,
and bring on life a whole new light,

The rays of Phoebus, Polaris at night,
the twinkling orbs all shining so bright,
the garden of sweet flowers, the fresh-fallen dew,
these are none so natural as longing for you,

When the time comes for those who care,
always remember they who would never dare,
to cause you pain or break your heart,
bear in mind, you will never really part,

Artists, poets, musicians alike,
we write in hopes of making things right,
if I had prayed for an angel to come and imbue,
I would never have dreamed of anything so special and rare as you,

Compliments given on beauty and attraction,
personality, sophistication give more satisfaction,
your virtues are valued quite as they are,
by those who are near, never far,

Keep your mind open, your heart straight and true,
the answers you long for will come into view,
remember the time we shared under the moon,
as you are lying at night, quiet in your room,

As I draw this dedication, this poem near an end,
it is so much more than mere work of my pen,
do not submit to what obliges you to do,
only please follow what is deeply felt, is true.
