You Gotta Try Bodacious Bar-B-Que in Bossier City, Louisiana!

Bodacoius Bar-B-Que Lives Up to It's Bodacious Name!

Bodacious BBQ is located south of Bossier City, Louisiana at 4706 Barksdale Blvd. The location of this little bar-b-que 'joint' is just outside of the busy City of Bossier in a slower traffic area, which is great for easy in and out. Barksdale Air Force Base is just two miles to the north and traffic is crazy in that direction. Look for the big pink pig! There is a huge pig in the parking lot, as well as another on the building. A large American Flag is waving proudly out front, making Bodacious easy to find. (bodaciousbbqlouisiana.com)

The Bodacious building is deceiving! There is no fancy landscaping, no ornamental decorations, just a Bodacious BBQ sign (with another pig) and ample parking. Inside one finds an eclectic collection of LSU (Louisiana State University) and Saint's paraphernalia, knick-knacks, GI Joe dolls, and simple metal chairs and tables. Do not be fooled by the decor - the menu is all that matters in this great eatery.

Recipes are based on 25+ years of Creole cooking experience, added to some San Antonio Texas bar-b-que experience; -- with the result being a Louisiana-Creole style of cooking that brings this writer back over and over again. The menu is filled with delectable "samiches" such as generous portions of hand-chopped brisket and pulled pork, as well as turkey. All are served on fresh baked large rolls (5" in diameter) and pair well with any of the sides offered, such as baked beans, Cole slaw, Creole seasoned green beans, white beans, etc. "Samiches" are $3.95 to $4.25 and a full meal by themselves!

Plate meals include two sides and Texas toast. All of Bodacious' meats are offered as a plate; turkey, sausage, half-chickens, but one has to try the St. Louis style ribs. Good-grief it is finger licking delicious! The ribs are slow hickory smoked until they are fall-off-the-bone good, and then add the unique Bodacious Bar-B-Que Sauce and one might feel they have found BBQ heaven.

OhMyGosh let us not forget the Botato!,--a huge baked potato that is filled with your choice of toppings, i.e. turkey, brisket, baked beans, Cole slaw, and anything else you have a 'hankering for'. (Do not forget the cheese!)

All of the side items are made fresh daily in single batches. This is great for freshness, but it means that when they are gone, they are gone, so it is possible to miss one of the offerings. In this writer's opinion, the best remedy to this dilemma is to visit this restaurant often and try everything!

Beverages of tea, sweetened or unsweetened, colas and beer are available.

Desserts include homemade Creole Bread Pudding and Peach Cobbler, with or without vanilla ice cream, making a sweet satisfying finish to a great meal.

Bodacious BBQ is family as well as large group friendly. Orders can be placed over the phone for pick up. Bodacious also delivers and can be hired for catering. Average price range for a plate dinner is $7.50 to $15.00. My family meets here regularly when we are all in town, usually 10 to 12 of us, (sometimes we even feed a stray we don't know!), and our tab with drinks, 'samiches', plate meals, and extra sides runs about $125.00. Not bad for all of us to eat and enjoy family time. We can all be seated at a single table, and they never run us off!

Whether alone, as a couple, or in a group I recommend you try this Bodacious location. The food is the good comfort food that the south is known for, portions are generous, atmosphere relaxed, and soda and tea refills are free! How great is that!
