You Can Heal Your Body

I love Grey's Anatomy! But the Season 3 episode where Addison drives down the coast to California to consult with her friend, who is a fertility specialist, offended and saddened me.

Addison wants a baby. She's close to 40 and has worked hard at her career, but now she wants something different. She's given up on her relationships and browses for a sperm donor. Her Fertility Specialist friend does some tests and then tells her: "Your FSH level is too high. There is no fertility potential here." Addison breaks down and cries with despair. It's over! She's left it too late!

I know it's only television, but do these people have any idea of the damaging message they send out there? Addison, who is an OB/GYN herself, is not even aware that there are thousands of success stories of women who have gone the holistic route and lowered their FSH levels adequately to conceive without the help of Assisted Reproductive Technologies!

When are we as a society going to learn that our journey only starts with the doctor's "verdict"? That we can heal our bodies ourselves if we only read enough and apply what we've read. This is not pie in the sky. It happens every single day when people have the courage to challenge what the medical professionals proclaim.

Western medicine is all about diagnosing and treating specific conditions, rather than working with the whole person. Doctors specialize in different fields, meaning you could be under the care of a fertility specialist, a colon specialist and a dermatologist at the same time for three different conditions that most probably have the same cause. But the cause will never even come under the spotlight with any of those three doctors. They will be too busy treating you with drugs, and even surgery. And we call that advanced Western medicine! In the process people are not educated about healthy living and how it affects their health. So what if you lose a few organs along the way and have to take chronic medication for the rest of your life?

A huge amount of money is being spent on genetic research in the hope of finding ways to manipulate certain genes, like the gene for breast cancer. What is not disclosed is that less than five percent of women who carry the breast cancer gene, actually develop breast cancer. The gene is only expressed when the lifestyle and general health of the person is such that the conditions for cancer are created. Cancer does not develop in healthy people!

Look, medicine has its place. If I were in a car accident and suffered multiple injuries I would want a doctor to operate on me and fix the damage. I'm under no illusion that acupuncture and copious amounts of wheat grass juice will do the trick here, although they will be invaluable in my post-operative recovery!

But when it comes to health, remember that doctors only really learned about disease. It doesn't matter what you have, somewhere out there someone has made major lifestyle changes and healed themselves from it. Google until you drop! Incurable only means that the medical profession doesn't have a pill or a treatment. But that doesn't mean that you have to roll over and die, or just live with it.

And let me tell you another thing... Health is not so hard to come by. Our bodies are amazing! What is naturally good for the heart, also protects against cancer, regulates diabetes, boosts immunity, balances hormones, slows down aging, preserves brain function, lowers cholesterol, keeps you slim, prevents bone loss, moves the bowels, promotes emotional stability and purifies the blood. Our bodies are designed to function as a whole.

Take control of your health today. See your condition as an opportunity to make necessary changes in the way you live. Happy healing!
